Remus Race Tube

After much consideration I have just had a Remus race tube and back box fitted to my 2008 1.4 Sport. I had wanted the silenced front section but Remus have stopped making it. It looks great but is louder than I'd hoped for, it's not unpleasant but my wife doesn't like it. Any suggestions on how to quieten it? Should I go back to the standard front section or try fitting an aftermarket silencer in the race tube?

Take her out to dinner? Buy her some new jewelry?

My wife's on a diet and already has enough jewellery, though she'd probably disagree on that! I know the clue was in the word "race" but a) It's all Remus do now and b) 500 Madness in the US have one on one of their cars apparently and say it sounds good.

What, you mean someone who sells something says it is really good to try and get you to buy it? I have never come across that before.

Re: Remus Race Tube

I feel really stupid! The back box was badly corroded and leaking, I should have just changed that. I'll post a clip of the sound sometime so other potential buyers can be better informed.

Re: Remus Race Tube

You may well find someone on here who is happy to buy it, but most people won't want it.

Don't worry. I have some Snake Oil which is 100% guaranteed to reduce exhaust volumes to wife friendly levels when added to your fuel. Usual price is 39.99 but as a Forum member I can sell it to you for 19.99 (plus 20 P&P).

That's right, laugh at someone else's misfortune, I feel bad enough already! :-(

Re: Remus Race Tube

I just hope the magnetic pills to put in the fuel tank boost fuel consumption as claimed so I can afford to fix my mistake!

Get someone like powerflow to insert a mid box into your system, instant female gratification (on the noise front at least)

Good suggestion. Longlife exhausts are another who make bespoke exhausts. They re-packed an expensive tailpipe I had on my old Celica.

Re: Remus Race Tube

Thanks deeyup and Scout500, I was thinking of trying that but was concerned as it would make the race tube worthless if it didn't work. I'd want to try and recoup some of my expenses by selling it if I go back to a standard system.
