I was wondering if any members has heard of this, my new 1.2 lounge had a fault with remote not working, and boot release intermitant since new....400 miles ago.
its since been in my local dealership since the middle of last week waiting to get an item they are calling a body computer installed. Is this a common fault....not long had the car, having moved over from a lifetime of VW ownership....and so far the experience not good. Dealership very poor too.

No, not uncommon. Bad luck - but once it's fixed it'll be fine.

Yes it is. Boots are known to fail due to tailgate switch, but not whole locking systems failing resulting in a replacement body computer being needed.

Lol, no worries, tbh I do exactly the same half the time.

great..... may end up having a bit of a love/hate relationship with the car I think.

You may end up loving the car & hating the dealer - that's what quite a few folks here seem to end up doing.

Actually probably right....at least they eventually gave me a courtesy car......another 500, which was at least not as tight as mine..... lots of thrashing......would anyone ever buy an ex-courtesy car, I suppose its like buying a "well maintained" ex-police car.

Comparing a FIAT to a VW is amusing - often you'll find the engineering isn't much different (especially on the lower end of the scale), but where you will find the difference is the amount of hair gel the salesmen wear.

I find VAG dealerships intolerably greasy and smarmy, FIAT ones vary tremendously, for sure!
