I remember seeing a thread on replacing it - it was doable for a DIY. Unlike changing the gear knob in an Abarth for the 'Ferrari' one - that seemed lot more involved and was more of a dealer job.

Definintely DIY job. Some brute force and an allen key.

I optioned it on both of my last 500s ( 5 speeds) and the gaiter is included as the gear positions, now missing from the knob, are on a plate attached to the gaiter.

I had the leather gear knob on the sport and on the 'new' lounge I have the plastic one. It's the 6 speed but it's looks the same as the 5 speed. I know this going against the general consensus here but I prefer the roundness of the standard knob . I would like the standard chrome one of the 6 speed sport model. If someone has that one they don't want it and its still in one piece don't hesitate to give me a shout !

Well knowing now that the gaiter is included makes the £67ish sound better value. I think the black gear stick looks strange with the Ivory ambience so will hopefully make this change in the next few months. Let us all know how you get on changing it over. Good luck.

Also have seen the genuine Ivory one on ebay, but not much cheaper than off fiat website.

I would try it first (as in a test drive) before you opt to have it fitted. My wife much prefers the standard knob but the leather one does look much better.

Brillant price RUI

It got me looking at the gaiters - there is quite a selection of them. The gaiter on my own seems slightly plastic looking. I've asked a Fiat dealer to source a chrome knob off the sport and was thinking of upgrading the gaiter as well. Here's one if someone was looking to go mad...
