Hi Guys

I've ordered a new twinair in volare blue. I have the blue & me satnav and my current car has the port on the dash for it to slot in to. The dealer said that all cars come with this port now but when I looked at the matt black in the showroom this didn't have it, his answer was that the limited editions don't come with it as standard. Obviously I want this to be able to use the satnav and I want to get the new tomtom unit. Does anyone know if this port does infact come as standard now? I know back in 2009 I had to sepcify that I wanted it. My car is at stage 16 now, can they check that my car will def have this, can they add this to it at this stage?

Also regarding the 'new' suspension set up, do all cars come with an ARB now? I searched through a thread about it and someone said that they had a look under a twinair in the showroom and it didn't have one. Does this model not have one? The spec brochure says it (and the whole range) has a torsion beam, is that the same as an ARB? Is there any change to the front suspension, or does it still crash and bang over the slightest bump?

Thanks

Tom

I believe all 500's come with the sat nav port yes. If the salesperson says all of them come with them then I'd trust them tbh :)

As for the whole ARB thing, the name ARB is somewhat of a red herring when it comes to the 500 as no 500 really has a proper ARB..... they all have torsion beam suspension, but some cars (the newer ones) have a bar running through the beam which some people call an ARB. This stiffens up the torsion beam and makes it resist roll better. Anyhoo in answer to your question, yes it will have it.

Excellent, thank you. I can get a proper nights sleep now! ;)

I also have at twin air on order, expected mid April, and I wanted to check the sat nav port. My dealer made no mention of it being standard but said he had ordered it for me as it was a no cost option. and he showed me where he had ordered it on the screen.

Can't help with the ARB as I have absolutley no idea what that is!!

We have a volare twin air coming as well and my dealer said it's a no cost option that has to be ordered so I would check this out

Maybe they've just brought this port in as standard in march, as i bought mine brand new and received it on january 20th and it didnt come with this port, and nobody told me i could spec it with it free of charge either, doesn't really bother me i had a phone cradle and sat nav app. but just letting you know mines a 2011 and didnt come with it.

Hmmm, seems like it's a bit hit or miss whether you get it or no. I called the salesman who at first said that all cars built this year have it as standard, then went to check with the manager and came back to say that you do have to specify it but he can access the system on monday and change it. But i thought with it being at stage 16 it's too late for any changes??
I wont be happy if it doesn't come with it as I want the tomtom unit and hate having cradle and wires hanging around!
I asked about it a few times when I was ordering the car too but the answer i got was that it was standard!

Dare I suggest that a car registered in the UK on 20th January is highly unlikely to be a 2011 build car.

Cheers

My car is at stage 16 in the build and my dealer says that spec apart from colour can be changed, is this the case?

I suspect then that your dealer orders it with every car. We didn't ask for the sat nav port back in May 2009 and when the car arrived in July it had one. The dealer said they spec it on all of the cars they order.

I ordered my twinair lounge near the end of January, got it last week, and there's no satnav port. I'm not bothered, the FIAT configurator was clear that it was an option. The dealer made no mention of it either. If it's standard now, it must be a very recent development.

I cant see it anywhere on the configurator, whereabouts is it?

I don't think it is, which would suggest that it may well now be standard as suggested by a few folk already.

I'm off to sign the paperwork on my new Lounge this morning. If I remember, I'll ask. (and check to see if mine has the socket fitted!)

Not standard, just a no cost option. I wanted the blue and me satnav and had told my initial sales guy this (as the test drive car had the slot and I commented on it)- he didn't tell me I had to specify this as an option and when I picked mine up a week ago it didn't have it :-( . Car was factory ordered at end of January so it must be down to individual dealers putting it on orders.

That's a bit of a worry. I'll be annoyed if there isn't one fitted when I go to check the car over later.

Guess what.

Just been to sign paperwork and check the car over before collection next weekend.....

No satnav socket. Wrong wheels too, but that's a different story.

So no paperwork signed. The dealers said that the socket is standard on the Lounge spec, but I'm guessing that's not the case. They also said that it cannot be retrofitted, so they'd have to order in a new car.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit longer.

I'll be getting a call from my dealer tomorrow to tell me if it has been ordered with it or whether they can add it to it now. I'm a bit dubious as to wether or not they can add it at this stage, it's at stage 16 in the build, but someone on here said that at stage 16 nothing can be changed. If that's the case then i'll be telling them to order me another car becasue I made it very clear to the salesman and the girl that put the order through that I wanted it and they both said it comes as standard now.
