As I've had the 500 for just over a year I've been looking at getting it serviced (yes I know the intervals are 18k miles or 2 years whichever comes first, but I want to service it early)

Anyhoo as some of you may or may not know, if you make a donation of £5 you get a code for a 10% discount with www.shop4parts.co.uk who sell lots of genuine bits for 500's and Fiats in general.

Stupidly enough my local stealer has agreed to service my car for about £40 cheaper (they wanted just under £200 for the 18k service) if I supply genuine bits from shop4parts than they would if they were supplying the bits. I know it's not the biggest saving but at the end of the day it's £40 more in my back pocket rather than in theirs PLUS my car is getting serviced at a Fiat dealership so if I do sell it that's always a plus. People are always complaining about the cost of servicing so why not drive costs down? ;)

Shipping is a little expensive @ £9.34 for an order but if like me you're going to buy enough for 3 years of servicing then there's quite a saving to be made :) The bits for one service come in @ 84.07 which is 4 litres of Selenia 5w40 (1.2 litres too much so enough left over for some top ups), 4 spark plugs and a filter kit (air, oil and cabin). If you buy enough for the first 3 services then it comes in @ 72.63 per service. Genuine plugs can actually be had for a few pounds cheaper on Ebay if you know which ones to buy (y)

Hope this helps some of the more budget conscious people on the forum :) If you're a female of the species and this all seems a little technical, let me put it this way, buy your oily bits online and you will be able to afford more shoes :p

Hey! You be nice to me! It was my birthday 2 weeks ago :p

Just so you don't feel left out they also do MJ diseasel filter kits which are ~£50 which is fuel, oil, air and cabin which seems pretty decent (y) Oil is the same price as the petrol oil too.

Very reasonable (y). Your getting a stamp, updates, service reset and no hassle/risk of breakage when servicing. Especially the pollen filter which looks a pain.
Yup :) They're charging £10 more than my independent would and as you say I'm getting all the benefits of dealer servicing :)

i just had my 18 k service slightly early on my 1.4 and it was £306 but i got it down too £275 by not having what they call an engine flush which apparently cleans out your engine but i have some bmw technicians in my family who advised me not too have it as its a way of making money.

That's still way too much to pay for a service.

My Local dealer did the 2nd year service on (at 12,000 miles) on my 1.2 500 for £150 parts included, they made decision that the tappets didn't need doing, nor the brake fluid.

Thanks Maxi, I don't understand the oily bits, but I do understand new shoes! A girl can never have too many.
Or perhaps some more flowers, I think there's still a bit of white showing on the car. :D

I just got my car booked in for it's 2 year service. £169.95 at Research in Nuneaton. It was a very nice surprise to hear that price! I can't recommend them enough, they always do a good job too. (y)

Had mine serviced in Nuneaton, last week. £125 for the 18K mile service. I did have the oil degradation light appear at 13,000 miles and was £80 for that, so it wasn't changed at 18,000.

1.3 Multijet.......strangely it felt faster after the service......think that may be in my head tho. :)

So did mine, and the engine seemed slightly quieter and more economical afterwards too. Maybe they carried out an ecu upgrade as well as the service?

Yes it does sound a heck of a lot quieter......think i'll ring them and see if there were any ECU updates done on it. Doesn't mention it on the receipt tho......I s'pose it wouldn't tho.
Glad someone else thought the same! :)

Mine was much more economical on the way home after it's service too. It was a 200 mile trip to the nearest Abarth dealer, i got around 29 MPG on the way there, and 39 MPG on the way back, 50/50 Motorway and Welsh twisties!

Going to get a shock in 6 months when the 2nd service is due, apparently they change the brake fluid and it's probably going to be £450+!
