I am about to change the colour of the upper part of my car but not really sure if it would look strange...your kind opinion would be greatful before I go all the way with this project. This is a rough example of what it might look like.

I do not want to go all the way as the Abarth. The black colour will stay at the window line, like the Mini cooper.

It looks really good to me - I'd mentioned a similar desire earlier this week. It was pointed out that an alternative to paint could be a vinyl "wrap", which would enable you to peel it off if you changed your mind later. I asked about, but it seems that I could get a guarantee of only 5 years on the materials, so I'd be tempted to stick to my original paintwork idea.

Give it a go!

Funny you mentioned vinyl "wrap". It was one of my options...but my brother has a paint shop which means that it will not cost me much.

Go for it. I wouldn't vinyl it, as if you took if off after 5 years the bottom half of the car wouldn't match the top bit anyway, so would be just as well to paint it. x

How about taking the black down to just below the wing mirrors on the ridge. It will then follow all round the car. You would then also have a back bonnet, if you get my gist. ;)

Then the mirrors go into the lower body colour.

If you want to vinyl wrap the car. Get the whole car done, just get the bottom colour in the white, then you won't get fade issues. Only a thought...

I like it. I reckon you need black wheels as well to set it off perfectly.

It will look like the Abarth C from Geneva. Did not like it that much, very hard contrast.

Quite like it. I wonder if there's another colour that would work as well as black, or perhaps even better.

I loved the two tone cars of the fifties.

A project for you photoshop boys - some examples of tasteful two tone paint jobs for the 500. ???

Actually a company called Castanga had already done some two-tone 500's when the 500 first came out

From what I can gather they are (were?) tres expensive

One word................. gorgeous
