I would go for the standard Abarth first and then put the upgrade pack on if you feel the need.
Ditto that, 12,000 miles first gives the engine a chance to run in before you top up the BHP, and gives you time to save too, and you'll obviously notice an extra 25 BHP more if you've done 12,000 miles in a car with 135 BHP, you may take it for granted if you have 160 BHP from the word go!

a lot of people also say there's not a lot of difference anyway - especially at urban speeds - so yea, get the standard and if you really wanna pay out £2500 for a few more bhp then you'll be better positioned to judge whether or not its really worth it.

it isnt, of course. and i feel a lot of people that add the ss will do so thinking they then have a genuinely fast hot hatch - you wont. the clios, cooper s's and vxr's that left you behind in a standard a500 will carry on doing that to an ss - its only .5 sec off the 0-60 after all.

id get my head bitten off if i said this over at the abarth forum - nothing at all can be said against the car there without 'the dealer' and the zealots diving in. hence why i stick around on here more now, the original and the best forum ;)

Have to agree with gib1970, some people seem to have a very skewed view on the A500, its a fun quick little car but there are a fair few similar size proper hot hatches that will pound it as a drivers car. Its no supercar :)

Does have bags more charm than the others though and that more than makes up for any performance difference for me. At the end of the day on the road no matter what car goes up against it you'll both end up at the same speed limit anyway :p
