Hello all, I've been lurking here for a few days and just today I ordered my 500 (1.2 Pop) and I am too excited :( I'll be getting it in 4-6 weeks...I cannot wait!

But seriously, there is something with this car that makes you obsessed...since I decided this was the car for me almost every waking moment all my thoughts have been about the car, I will have at least two tabs open on firefox which are to do with the car, and now I have begun to daydream about driving the car! I didnt feel this way about my current car (Ford Ka ) even though it was my first.

Damn Fiat for making a car so desirable and addictive!

And I was wondering has anyone come across any faults with the car? My Ka has been in and out of the garage all year and is costing so much money, granted it is 6 years old. I'd just hate to finally get this car and it have something wrong with it, so are there any common problems/faults with it at all?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Yes there is definitely something about the 500 that makes it a little obsessive... try not cleaning it when yours arrives!

I don't think there are any massive issues with reliability with the car, people have what I would characterise as niggles... most of them have been covered in threads on here, its best to have a read. However don't think that you are going to have every little fault that people have experienced... I have had mine since December 08 and the only thing it has been back to the dealer for is the brake recall on the 1.2 (just a check/tighten thing) and replacement of a wheel centre cap, the paint on which had bubbled. Otherwise no problems.

Hope the reality of the car matches your expectations!

how did u manage to get a 1.2 pop so quickly??
every dealer i rang are quoting me 12-14 weeks, looking at early August delivery

1.2 is prone to a leaky coolant cap I think - simple replace job.

Washer nozzles tend to dissapear when it freezes (I keep a spare in the boot).

IMO the road noise is too high but it can be taimed if it bothers you (see guides).

I don't think there's anything else that pops up regularly though!

EDIT: the only other thing is that numpty's in f-reg escort vans will flash you continually if you use the driving lights - I have no idea why!

i dont know about any problems as i,ve only had mine for 2 weeks but intoxicating yes!! i,ve been caught a few times by my neighbours grinning and caressing my car! even when i park up somewhere i get out lock it up and then stand admiring it before i go anywhere, but who cares i just love it:D

I rang my dealer today to get a update on my car (Status 20 2 weeks ago) was told that it is still at Status 20 which means it is built and waiting to jump on the boat!

I was then told by my dealer to expect my Pop at the end of the month!

Not too sure how you have been told you are getting yours so quick, as mine has been on order for 10 weeks now!

Sorry to spoil to for you, I am sure it will be very very intoxicating when we get our cars!:)

I am always looking out of the window, at work or at home, to admire my car. I see people walking past and stopping to look at it. Never having owned a car at all before (though I have had a licence since 1981!) it was this car that finally made me a driver. I saw it first on Top Gear (the James May test drive / race with the 2 cyclists in Budapest) and said that night I want THAT car. A year later I bought one and I've had it 2 months today, and the pleasure of owning it hasnt worn off yet!!! BTW I was quoted 14 weeks but I got it in 8, so they probably over estimate or give the worst case scenario. It was very quick and I was still taking my referesher lessons when it arrived.
