General Servicing Information On 1.2

My garage have said that as I only do about 8K miles a year they'll not do a full service on the 12 months, but do a 'proper' service every 24 months, just do the basics every other year .... thought rather nice of them.

If the warranty is to remain valid then your garage will have to follow the service schedule to the letter I'm afraid. When car is out of warranty then you can skip certain items if you feel it is not essential but if you have spent all that money on a brand new car I feel it might be false economy to not follow the proper schedule.

Hopefully I might hear back from Westover about a service package deal.

That information I got on servicing was from westover wallisdown - assume the one you are emailing? They never offered me a service plan.......... not that i'd take them up on it anyway. You don't have to get serviced at a Fiat dealer, just a proper place that can get Fiat parts - we had this argument with the Chrysler dealer when we had the pt cruiser ... their service charges were huge so we used our local ford dealer who got the parts in for us. I'm going to use westover however as they are only 5 mins from my house :)

I wasnt ever offered a service plan, in fact no mention of it at all from Westover in Salisbury. So, if one was available at £349 then Id want it:)

Me too! The Fiat service plan options for the 500 are for 3year/54000mls :

1.2 8v MPI - £711.00

1.4 16v MPI - £648.00

1.3 MJT 75 - £594.00

So there is quite a saving to be had if dealers offer a competitive alternative to the Fiat plan.

Let us know how you get on:)

Will do, but it all depends on whether they reply to the emails. If not I will be going down there soon as the noise on the car (dual mass flywheel ???) seems to be getting louder, so I'll ask in person then. Although not excessive I think it is a good idea to point it out any potential problems at the earliest opportunity.

probably been covered already but any vat reg garage can service you'r car without affecting its warranty providing they use fiat part's, also most reputable garages will have there own computor software so they can reset the service light aswell,

so on plan 1 in the space of 2 years or 36,000 miles the 1.2 should have 12 services ? (one every 2 months)
or am i reading it wrong !! but it does say number of services 12

You're reading it wrong, but its badly worded by Fiat. You're reading 'number' as 'quantity', where they really mean 'service number'.

i.e. in your example, service numbers 1 and 2 - or the first and second service.

Nope, not at my dealer. I haven't taken it out and they have been asking whether I want to.

According to Fiat UK website, you can take out a service plan at any time up to the second service.

They're quoting £711 for a 1.2 Lounge though so £349 is good, hopefully I can get this with my dealer.
