My first Fiat so a couple of questions regarding Fiat warranty. As I understand it the car has 2 years manufacturers cover and then a third year dealer cover. Can someone tell me what the difference is between the two types?

Also, when I bought the car the selling dealer told me that they send a letter out confirming the dealer warranty. If this is so can anyone tell me how long it takes for the letter to arrive and does it mean that you have to take the car back to the supplying dealer for warranty work in the third year?

From my understanding of this, it covers much the same (apart from service items) and if some reason the dealer will not do it under warranty then get on the blower to fiat customer services and things happen quickly! well thats what appears to happen at the dealer i work at.

But in short its the same! unless you have a crappy dealer that wont help you out.

As warranties go i would say fiats/alfas is pretty damn good, i know vauxhall have a sliding scale of whats covered and it goes age vs miles or at least it used to.

keep the service history in good order and you should be fine! and a good rapour with the dealer will not do you any harm :D

Although you may be told the 3rd year warranty is just as good as the first two years, and indeed i was, in my experience with my Grande Punto it is anything but. Best thing you can do is read the warranty p-work supplied with your car, you might be in for a shock!

work in warranty dept of a major truck manufacturer, keep meaning to have a proper read of the 500's warranty documents, will do & report back ;)
