Does anyone happen to know what the 16" O-spoke wheels actually weigh? Is there a tech manual anywhere that tells me this? I've just had a hunt through the massive pile of information, booklets, owners manual stuff and I can't find the answer anywhere?

cheers

I'm toying with a big braking package and to accommodate I'll need at least 17". I'm curious how much the standard items weigh. I'm trying to not increase the unsprung weight at each corner with this upgrade. I did think about pulling a wheel off on the weekend to weigh it but it snowed and it was viciously cold outside. And I'm lazy. And I'm sure this info exists somewhere :)

if you go on eper with your wheels part number it will tell you the weight there as it will have the weight per item for shipping or whatever

i am interested as to what kind of brakes you were thinking of toying with there already got huge vented ones if you have the 1.4 if you have 1.2 the 1.4 brakes would be easy to swap

the only other brakes i can think of that would be easy to swap would be punto 188 1.8 hgt brakes

but i'm not sure if there any bigger if anything they might be the same

Littlepip17,

What's eper? Is it a publicly accessible resource?

I've got a 1.4 lounge. I'm not looking at Fiat brakes though. I'm waiting on feedback from a few places on a Brembo kit. I've also been in contact with Wilwood to see what they can do although their responsiveness hasn't been the best. I'm also tempted by this: http://www.gazzella.cc/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=18162&category_id=1557 The urge to buy it immediately is strong but I'm thinking it would be better to see what some other vendors come back with.

Woah, £1200. If you dont mind me asking, why do you want to spend this kind of cash on the brakes?

I like stopping :)

And I want to do some track days. I don't think the standard brakes would stand up to that sort of punishment.

Nice one. Do you plan on modifying the suspension at all?

any brakes currently available for the panda 100hp will go on the 500 same mounts

ps. it does not show the wheels on eper and a few other things cant be seen it's a bit rubbish on the hole one at proper fiat garage is much better it works lol

Peco,

I'm still thinking about the suspension work. There isn't a lot of first hand info around yet. Mostly stuff from promotional material or tuning magazines. Nothing that really gives any indication of what any given setup is like on the road/track. I'm sort of treating it as an experimental process. For the moment I've ordered the lowering springs from nuova500 shop. I'll see how that goes. If its rubbish once the 17" wheels are on I'll re think it. At the moment the priority is getting wheels/tyres in place and chasing wilwood/brembo (they're not very forthcoming with the info).

littlepip17,

The wheels will be off this weekend for the new springs to be installed. I think I'll take the chance to weigh one. It'll give me an idea of how much weight I can save. Interesting point on the panda 100hp brakes. So anything advertised as fitting a panda 100 will bolt straight on to a 500? Interesting.

jnoiles,

I'll be interested in following your progress with regards to this, so if you could let me know how it goes that'll be great.

I'm on the lookout for more detailed technical info surrounding the suspension design/set up also, if I come across anything I will swing it your way.

littlepip,

Continue with this, do you know how much is borrowed from the panda; suspension assembly by any chance??

front hub uprights are the same as is the hub offset from them so anything that goes on a 100hp wil fit 500 all models and panda all models

suspension mounting points all identical same bottom arms springs and shocks are the same dimensions but obviously different internals and weighted springs

the rear disks on the 1.4 16v 500 and 100hp are the front disks from the 8v's pandas and 500 pops same part number

the front sub frame is similar i think i spotted a few differences but nothing different about the mountings for suspension all thou you'll be pleased to know even the sub frames are galvanised now
