General too many options........

I think the brochure, although a thing of beauty is not much use and could do with a simple A4 sheet with spec's & options included. I tend to refer to the fiat uk web site and use the comparison part of the 500 section. Still not enough info & images though!!

Yoshi

PS As far as I know ALL the 500 models have underseat storage pop, lounge & sport.

I'm sure you are right. But I'll wait and take a look. Now we seem to be able to have the enhanced audio system, which was advertised but actually unavailable, until very recently - apparently. I sat in one car with the sunroof and found my head crushed against the edge of the headlining. The skydome or whatever its called is better - but unwanted, and the solid steel roof, for me, is ideal. Except that I can only have it with the Pop. Then, when I add the necessaries, I have to do without various little important things, such as the boot light, and so I go for the Lounge after all and start all over again.

In a way it is fun of course, and as I am waiting for the twin cylinder engines I suppose I am grateful for the confusion because I am not tempted to jump.

Now, all I want is to see one of the grey/browny ones in the metal so that I can make up my mind about the colour. Either this, or white...maybe...

I did get a single sheet (round wheel shape) card from the dealers that listed each spec and option against each other so you can compare each model at a glance without having to go through the brochure.

This states that the under seat storage is only available on the lounge. Perhaps this was an early error that was rectified when the brochure was printed

Oh, and you can get the solid steel roof on the sport as well as the pop. ;)

Saw a punk grey car in the flesh today. It looked very brown. It would probably look good with a red interior but this one had a black ambience with the lounge black/white checked seats and just looked very drab.

And so the confusion over the exact spec goes on. I really do think that this business is bloody.
Try an Audi. Multiple levels of interior illumination, metal, wood or "Piano" interior strips. Various steering wheels with levels of functionality. An option list that can add the cost of a 500 to the base car!

For some reason, which I have forgotten, I don't think I want the Sport. Something to do with not having split rear seats if I remember, but I can have these as an extra, but still lose out on some small wanted thing, and have to pay a bit more - probably... But I do like the look of the Punk Grey very much. And this looks like it will actually be enhanced by the chromy bits, so the Lounge is getting warmer in my mind's eye all the time. In white I wouldn't particularly want the chrome you see....and so it goes on..

Try an Audi.

I can't imagine ever even looking at an Audi with a thought to purchase actually. Like all German cars Audis leave me just a little bit cold. I had an Audi 100 thirty years ago and I never really fell in love with the thing.

Try an Audi???? The only one I'd try is an R8...

LOL this thread is a hoot! Look at the confusion and chaos!!!! LOL:ROFLMAO:

PS Nice signature BEASTY...I just noticed it!! LOL:D(y);)

Whilst I do favour certain brands and especially Italian ones there are several cars from different manufacturers I like. I am generally a fan of pretty much anything from Alfa Romeo through the years although I think the 159 is trying too hard to appeal to owners or would be owners of German rivals.

Conversely I am not a fan generally of Audi styling but think the A3 has a more appealing interior than the rest of the range, plus the 2.0T FSI engine and DSG 'box are dynamically a cracking combination.

Coming from an Alfa 156 V6 the A3 manages to provide equal enjoyment through its performance and technology. It looks purposeful in s-line trim and 18" alloys but will never look as stylish!

In my view there are very few (non exotic) cars over the years that are really stylish for their era and no one brand that can pull it off across a range.

The Alfa 156 was one. Compare it to a 155 and the styling was revolutionary unlike many cars that evolve from previous models or try to adopt a family styling across the models.

The Fiat 500 is undoubtedly another. In an era where most small cars look alike it manages to pull off a combination of retro and modern and the dash is like nothing before it again combining conventional guages with modern electronics.

I am struggling to think of any other current affordable cars that have that "really want one" feel on launch. Plenty of non affordable ones...

Except for the 500 there is nothing under 70 grand that has the 'must have on launch' factor for me.

(Except maybe the Merc CLS CDI- £47K- a beautiful, brave, and unusual design abit like the old citroen ds)

That's why I respect what Fiat has done here so much! Ok I'm getting a 500 which has been specced to quite expensive but I definitely think it's worth it considering the wow factor it produces, its 5* Ncap for adults and all the lovely extras,....oh and THAT dash...
