General Most Expensive 500 In The Uk !!

First of all check out this thread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/500/133072-multijet-spec.html

for an interesting discussion on remaps.

IMO and I mean no offence to other Fiat owners, the Bravo is a snooze fest and I would stick with the 500 just for the interest factor! But that's my taste.

As for cruising across Europe how is 60+ mpg bad performance. That's bloody good performance from an economy point of view.

You said you're into the whole power thing, perhaps the Abarth is for you? I know that even the 1.4 felt sluggish on test drives but that was what I expected, I fell in love with this car for reasons other than it's performance, which is obviously tailored for nipping about the city.

What I'm saying is, if you really don't outright HAVE to have a 500 then go for anything with a bigger engine if you want to get from A to B slightly faster.

I know that I will be absolutely happy with my 1.3's motorway cruising ability just for the sheer joy of watching how slowly the fuel gague drops, and if I need to overtake a lorry, well that's why I bought the torquey diesel.

It sounds as though you weren't totally convinced by the 500 in the first place...if I'm being presumptious then I apologise...but don't let little performance worries affect you now...stick with your decision and if you really AREN'T pleased then there's is always N500SHP. If you read that linked thread that should solve most of your warrnty worries. As for insurance; no claims bonus + 23 yrs old = keep the quotes as low as possible and stick to the 500!

Also what Nuova said, if performance is your thing, er, why 500????

Fiat couldn't actually 'terminate' as you put it any dealerships for discounting the 500, thats against uk and eu competition law. having said that, the dealers probably won't anyway for a while as they wont need to with the supply/demand levels....but discounts will arrive - they always do, especially on fiats, and especially with the internet. early adopters always pay through the nose, thats just the way it is.

I hadn't had a test drive in the 500 M-Jet prior to ordering - I had driven a 1.4 Sport at a dealership in Italy last year.. I very much like the current power I have in the 130 M-Jet Grande - I always know theres power there if I need it.
You really need to drive one. I drove the 1.4 Sport having just got out of a 200bhp A3 2.0T and it felt quick enough. When I had an Alfa 156 V6 and was given a 147 1.9 JTD 150bhp courtesy car it felt very dull even if the performance gap was less than the A3 and 500.

I guess it comes down to whether you want a feeling of speed or outright performance.

As you are used to the M-Jet I would imagine the petrols would feel a bit gutless low down so I would have thought the 1.3 would be the right choice, but you need to try it!

Cheers

I drove the 1.3 mjet and to be honest it felt very very slow compared to my 1.9 mjet grande.

Unlike Jetweed Ive gone for the 1.4 tjet 150 Bravo (or the snoozefest as one of you put it) Mainly for the fact I need the space and could not live with the speed decrease.

I know Jetweed and I really think he will struggle with the power loss> Beauty is only skin deep as they say, no use having a ferrari with a lawnmower engine in it! <<<<< OOOOOOOh im gonna get stick for that comment lol!

Having seen a few 500's in the metal at TJVickers on Sunday I have to say they are pretty cool and spot on with the pitch at the younger community, my 20 year old daughter would die for a 1.4 now, beforehand she didnt even entertain the idea, she preferred a Clio ffs! Now as she cant afford a 500 she is going for a Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX,... but only til she has enuff money for a 500! (y)

Apparently the Skydome is delaying my order til August/September..

Research Garage are checking with Logistics tomorrow and calling me back...

Do we think the 1.4 16v would be a better bet for me or stick with the 1.3 M-Jet then Re-map it?

Fiat announced on February 8th that any car ordered with the Electric Sunroof will not be built before week 25 (week-commencing 16th June) so it will be delayed, but they're being a bit pessimistic saying August/September.

It would've been quicker if they'd just read the letter we all got! :p

My 500 was ordered with the electric sunroof on 2nd Feb, and order went in, the following week. However, dealer has assured me delivery is on track for early May.

Slightly off-track, since 500 is based on Panda platform, wonder whether the Panda's dealer fit aluminium pedal covers can fit 500's pedals??

Personally I'd go for the 1.3 over the 1.4 but thats just cos I like fuel economy. And I'm beginning to suspect, based on my test drives of the 1.4 that the 1.3 is gonna pack quite an unexpected punch. Also 500 shop vouch for their diesel remap so... might be a good idea!
