That's a very good price and is close to another posting on here. IIRC the original prediction was around $24K. FIAT have timed this well with the Dollar at an all time high against the Euro in the last 16 months.
Not too sure how it's all set up - I'm not an accountant - but with production in Europe being in Poland and in NA in Mexico it would all be about lowering manufacturing costs. Since Fiat is still based in Europe and they have acquired a stake in Chrysler - the production of the 500 would probably be under a licensing contract. This means that Fiat would be paid a proportion of what ever is sold. Given the strength of Dollar in comparison to the Euro this net ‘kickback’ would be less given the current exchange rates.
