I've seen lots of posts about checking for a warped base on your carb, but I haven't seen anything about my situation. Not sure what to do. I've just checked, and the base of my carb is warped, but the top surface of the bakelite spacer matches its curvature. When I put them together with no gasket, their faces match up perfectly. To the degree I can tell visually the surface on the bottom of the spacer matches the intake, as well.

I can't test for air leaks right now because I've got the distributor in pieces, but I'm wondering if this is too good to be true. Is it possible that I have a spacer that is compensating for the warped carb base, or once the carbs warped, do I have to straighten or replace it? (Obviously, if I do either, I'll need to replace the spacer.)

Is it even possible there is someone out there in this engine's past who has resurfaced the spacer to match the carb?

I agree and can't see a problem with that , as long as the the base on the spacer is flat on the head. You will have to find one of those rare curved gaskets:D
