Classic regularity rallies. Has anyone done one; particularly in a Fiat 500? (I doubt it).

I've dipped my toe as navigator with my brother's impractical pre-war car, but I believe that a 650 engined 500 could put some of the more conventional makes and models of car to shame; obviously it would also be great fun.

If anyone has experience of the off-road (often on an airfield) "driving tests" in such events and can explain to me how best to instruct my driver around cones etc., the information would be gratefully received.

I have done classic rallying and apart from a Citroen Dyane I probably couldn't think of a worse car than a 500 / 650 Fiat to do it in . The trouble would be the class they usually don't cater for such small engines. You would probably be up against Mini Coopers ( 1000cc or 1275cc ) and they have much better brakes and suspension .I own a 650cc 72L and a 1000cc mini and I know which I would rather use . BUT hey give it a go . Bryan

Thanks Bryan......I didn't really want to know the truth! ;)

As an example, on the rally we were in on the Saturday before last, a 500 would have been with the Minis in "Class 4-all vehicles under 1300cc": won by a Mini and with about 5 others competing.

I've seen a snippet of a recent YouTube with a Fiat 500 doing a test. We could hardly do worse than with my brother's Lagonda. :D:D
