You say that you can't physically tighten the adjusting nuts any more, so the rear ride height can't be increased to where you want it.

Is it possible that the suspension unit is already extended as far as it can go?
(i.e. that the piston rod travel has maxxed out).
This would mean that any extra spring pressure being applied can't extend the s. unit any further and therefore won't raise the rear of the car any further , it will just stiffen the suspension action.

Just refitted my front suspension after cleaning all the old under seal off, I then found the bushes were all worn to nothing so I changed them all for poly Bush's.
After several other posts the consensus seems to be Fit a Brace Bar! I had a look they seem to be from £50 to £80 but the it looks as if they just fit onto the original shock absorber bolt, this would mean all the stress would be going through the shock absorber & relying on the strength of the wheel arch. So I fabricated two sheets of steel then bolted them in front & behind each of the shock holes, then believe it or not i had an old aluminium spirit level made up from 1.9mm thick box section, I wont waist anything) cut off the ends off & bolted through the new fabricated plates with U Bolts. This not only gives great protection for the fuel tank but also braces the two wings together.
At the same time I removed and sprayed the fuel tank, which just slides out without having to remove the new brace bar.:)
Hopefully the photos download

Hi The Hobler The cross member was on the car when I bought it in December.I made the brace bar from a very strong aluminium spirit level ( see pics I have downloaded below) cut to the correct length then sprayed satin black with a plate bolted front & back of the shock bolts, also changed all the bush's for poly. (Had to find something to do whilst lock down) thanks for you advice re the brace bar.

Hi there, out of interest, where did you obtain the replacement poly bushes from? I have a new independent front suspension ready to install, but would prefer to swap the bushes for poly if possible. I guess it’s a question of removing them, measuring them and trying to source a suitable replacement?
Thanks

Hi The Hobler Bought them from Super Flex, look them up on the Net, they have all different sizes they are in Somerset 017490673533, for the bottom of the shock i used SF3942755S for the top i used SF3942092B The total cost for all 8 was £32.00, but then that is obviously for my adjustable shocks, unfortunately without a name but i believe they were from Ricambio 5 or 6 years ago.
all the best Barry
