Hi any ideas how you remove the rear view mirror in a 1970 500L need to replace it with new one as it’s falling apart and mirror misted thanks have tried pulling but don’t want to break the bracket as new replacement didn’t have bracket just threaded balljoint

Any help greatly appreciated

John, the bracket is part of the car body and not removable. You might have a black plastic cover over it which pulls off; this might deceive you. The old mirror will have a ball joint and thus is threaded into the bracket. There is a hex flat on the pivot to allow a spanner. There should also be a locknut behind the bracket which needs removing before unwinding the pivot joint.
