I am struggling to figure out how to install the clamp on wing mirrors. What am I meant to do with the 2 black plastic fittings? Which one is meant to be used where?


I would really appreciate some help please!!!!!

Sorry I can’t help you as my car has fixed door mirrors but I’d like to welcome you to the forum group. :hug:

Hi and welcome, the mirror is designed to clip on to the A pilar,the small plastic plate goes between the mirror base and the outside face of the door pillar. The big spacer is for where it's needed. Don't tighten the screws too much otherwise you will damage the paintwork.

While we’re at it, anyone know which mirrors are “correct” for a 1971 L? I see a square and a round mirror. Which one was originally on it?

Back then, cars only had 1 wing mirror, on the drivers side.


I believe in 1971 they had a rectangular chrome wing mirror (with lines etched into the back of the mirror)

I bought 2 bullet clip on ones, and to be honest they are pretty abismal, the drivers side is ok but on the passenger side there is no way of putting it so you can use it as a mirror( maybe able to use it to hang my coat ).

I have the same ones, I fitted them upside down and it worked. I can now see the near side mirror.
