Experts...help!

I have the chance to buy this 500 F 1968 and I would like to understand more about its real value in monetary and originality terms, from your experience.

Attached there are few pics, but feel free to ask for more details.

Engine: re-done, it has 2000km.
Exteriors: repainted
Interiors: conserved from original
ASI membership from Italy
Full file history, just 2 owners within the same family
Original number plates

With a 500 engine and non synchro'd box its replacement cost would be £6-£7.5K imo

correct, 500 engine and non synchro'd box. and LHD.
why did you referred to as 'replacement' cost? i guess you mean its estimate would be around that.

another thing: would it be easy to sell around such estimate or may wait for months before selling?

Wrong time of year to import a 500 and to try and sell it on in the U.K. For a quick profit.

Spring or early summer are the best times of year, or you may get lucky but it's more probable you will have to hang on to it for a few months.

Oh and there is nothing wrong with a 500 engine and non synchro gearbox, to the right buyer originality is king and this will be reflected in what they are willing to pay. Same with any classic car.

Are you planning to buy and immediately sell on?
I thought you were asking a value in order of what to pay.
Selling on is a lottery
Until you've taken receipt of car and closely inspected it - you may find its not what you thought.....
Selling on may then be a problem
There are soooo many "fully restored " cars for sale. Not all are done well....

Not planning to sell it immediately, but just in case since I've not bought it yet, I wanted to understand my options.

I understand the overuse of restored by anyone

Is it a must to have a garage to place it in even if I plan to use it daily for a short commute throughout the UK autumn and winter ?

The chrome is very likely to take on a brown patina but if it has new underseal it will be OK......

I applaud your intention to use it regularly, but the Fiat 500 has old-fashioned details such as rain-gutters, fabric-based sliding-window seals and imperfectly fitting rain-seals elsewhere. That is one of the major reasons why these cars rusted away so easily on their first incarnations as inexpensive runabouts.

On balance I would say get one anyway, why not? :) but look towards finding covered parking and don't waste money on getting the shiniest and most perfect example you see. It's likely to lose its shine anyway if you park it outside in winter.

what documentation is needed if the 500 is not registered in Italy i.e. not drivable on EU roads?

After having it transported here, I get to customs and pay the 5% VAT, and then by showing the foreign registration document and the other supporting documentation, I'd get the DVLA to issue the V5 etc. but assume that there is no foreign registration document?

Sorry to tag on to this thread but I didn't want to start a new one and seem like I was advertising. Due to a change in circumstance (leaving the country in July) I will be looking to sell my little FIAT in the near future.

Can anyone suggest any place/s to advertise it apart from ebay where it's likely to sell for a reasonable price?

So to hijack the thread a little and please dont consider this as spam, if so or this offends anyone please let me know and will remove the post.

Thanks for any help.
