I had significant rust around my front suspension mounts cut out & new metal welded in during the aAugust. So had a 500 specialist shop do the work - remove front suspension, cut & weld in new metal, re-spray, reinstall suspension, redo alignment.

The shop owner dropped off the car at my home about 2 weeks ago, and I put it in the garage. I pulled out of the garage last night and NO BRAKES! (dead pedal). Thanks to low gearing and emergency brake I was able to get back inside safely.

I had no time to do a full diagnostic but a quick look under the hood and the reservoir was empty. Yet no obvious signs of dripping fluid on the garage floor.

I suspect that one of the front brake lines got a split/leak during the disassembly/reassembly steps. And the fluid slowly disappeared when the shop owner drove the car to my place for drop off.

So I plan to refill reservoir and have someone pump brakes until I find a drip. Any other advice or suggestions on how to track this down?

thanks

Brake fluid is of an oily consist and and will remain where it had leaked
Try the rubber hoses - they will of been disconnected to carry out the work
Check also that no fluid has leaked out of the drums - it will be visible down the back of the wheels.
Master cylinder is under front panel next to the horn
Look for anything wet......

Phone the company up who repaired the car and get them to sort it out.
It sounds like their mistake which could have cost you your life!
don't let them get away with that one!

After digging around I found a failed piston seal at the right rear cylinder. Fluid leaked into the drum and tire.

Easy fix in the end
