For anybody lucky enough to have a Dellorto FRG 28-R carburettor bolted to their 500 D or F, I have just come across all the basic settings for one of these carbs. I bought a small box of 'general bits' and there in the bottom was an original delivery label with all the basic settings on it. If you need the details, just contact me direct and I will send the details to you.

Help!

I have one of these carbs.
Am I lucky?

Just took a pic of the side because it wasn't making sense when I lined it up against chris bambino's rebuild thread.

Any info you have would be much appreciated :)

E-mail me direct ([email protected]) with your home address and I will pop a copy of it into the post to you---it is all in Italian, but with a bit of 'Google translation' you should be able to work it ou t.

That's far too kind, it sounds like a piece of history.
I'll send an email your way for sure, perhaps we could arrange for a 'digital copy' to find its way to me (y)

Service kits are still available (pukka factory!) from:--www.dellortoshop.com.
If you look on the site:--"forum club Italia..topic: carburatore dellorto frg 28" you will find a fair bit of info, and if you sign on to the site, you will probably be able to see all the pictures/photos.

Hi, do you still have the set up for the FRG 28, I have just had mine rebuilt following a fuel leak but it's running very rough with fuel coming out of the overflow at the base, I'm guessing this may be a float issue?

I have one of these on my 500F and had a trial and error mission with it recently.
Make sure the needle valve is fitted to the base the right way around (looks opposite to the way it is on the standard weber). Also make sure the plunger on the needle valve is inserted into the tab on the float (it hooks onto the slot on the tab - see photo). These were both mistakes I made and it caused flooding or starvation. Also check that the float isn't ruptured and full of petrol

Yes, I still have the info on the 'FRG' If you contact me direct [email protected] I will copy it out for you and pop it into the post. Just for your information, to check the float for correct adjustment, hold the top of the carb vertically and measure the distance between the float and the top cover---with the top-cover gasket in place. It should be between 5 and 6mm. I have found that the easiest way to measure it is with a length of round steel bar of the correct dimension,or, if you can't obtain that, use a drill of the appropriate size. You adjust the float by 'tweaking' the metal tab between the float pivot pin and the float(s).

Hi there The Hobbler.
Just wondering do you still have the information about the dellorto frg 28 carbs as I have just managed to get two of them. Are parts still available for them gaskets, jets? Do these carbs fit on a standard 500 engine 499cc? Thank you very much Ashley.

Yes, I still have the information. If you e-mail me direct with your address I will put a copy into the post to you (it is a 'physical' copy, not a digital---computers didn't exist when these specs were printed!)-- [email protected].
As far as I can ascertain , the FRG was a straight-swap option, although notby the factory.
