Also there are the Solex 34 PICT3 fitted to the Veedubs, they have an electronic choke, could these be fitted to a 499cc and above? I am waiting for some measurements from the seller regarding the height and hole centres on the flange.

I think that you will find the 34 PICT3 a tad on the large size for a '500'. There is also the problem that there will be no jetting information regarding this carb on a standard 500cc engine. I think that if you want a carb (that can also be used if you enlarge the engine size) that will enhance the engine's performance, the FZD 24/30 will be a good choice.
Personally, I would stay well clear of the replica 28/32 FZDs. The redesign of the top cover (i expect to get around copyright laws) means that the carb doesn't work "quite right".The top CAN be modified to match the Dellorto original design (I have done it), but the overall quality of the carb leaves a lot to be desired, and a lot of the genuine Dellorto parts don't match, so they can't be used to replace the "Chinese" parts. If you want a GENUINE FZD, either speak to"Toshi" or get your fingers doing some"lap-top walking" (OR, find a long lost Italian relative!)
