Styling Beware Of Halfords Own Brand Caliper Paint (Blue)

Okay, Recently baught the Halfords Caliper paint for drums and calipers as it says you can use it in both, beware that if you put it on your drums it WILL melt onto your alloys no matter what length of time you leave it to dry.

Left it well over 24hrs and it still melted

Just beware

did you not search forum for what to use first? old non waterbased hammerite smooth is loads better than caliper paint

Except the 'dark blue' looks like Porsche's sky blue!

You should let it sit for more than 24 hours. I used hammerite, much better to use and wears a lot longer than those crappy caliper paints.

Thats what you deserve for painting your drum brakes bright blue :yuck:

mate how many coats did you use?

I did mine with the exact same paint (red though) and they were fine. Did both calipers and drums.

Lasted about a month before I then painted them black

The bright blue went with the fiat badges!!

And i had done 3 coats and left it about 30Hrs!

Now the long wait for money for new drums from halfords!!

What Lesson? Not to buy halfords stuff?

And i dont care where i get them, aslong as i get them !

dont get new drums from halfords, look in yellow pages or on line and find a local motor factors, drums will be about £10, you must fit new shoes when fitting new drums

Seems to be only the Blue One

IT lasted onn the calipers and looks great, just melted odd the drums!

I used the same paint on my calipers, and I drove it after a few hours and it was fine and still is.

what did you do to the drums prior to painting?


the front calipers are rough cast so have a good texture where as the rear drums are smooth
