My reverse gear works 100% however it takes alot of effort to put it in reverse. if you would normally put the shifter into the reverse gear position it will engage in 4th gear.

for it to effectively work you would have to push the shifter extremely hard to the right then push it down into reverse.

what could be the cause of this problem?

Check the lollypop linkage for the gearshift, that may be loose.

Alternatively, it is possible that the engine mounts are either worn, or not fastened properly. Check that all the bolts are in the bottom cross member, and that there isnt too much play in any of the rubber joints.

after a couple hours driving today, i found out that the reverse isnt really that bad to engage in. i just have to push it all the way to the right then press down, so i guess its just normal.

thanks for everything
