my x19 has a serious boot leak. the damage has resulted in a rusted hole in the left hand rear boot well. The rust has crept onto the bottom of the arch. I knew this when i bought the car, but with its mot due soon i am going to set about fixing it does anyone know if this is an mot fail that will have to be weld repaired or can i do a temp fibre glass repair ?

Hi ag, panel repairs, heres two rules,(1) holes/weak(excessive rust) have to be plated and seam welded only if they are within 30cm of these components anchor points:- suspension/steering/brakes/seatbelts
i would suggest get your tape measure out and measure from any anchor point that may be in this 30cm circle

(2)only one other reason to weld is if the holes are not in these areas but very large/extensive and are likley too affect steering suspension brakes hope this helps
but it would seem that your ok i have the same hole in my boot, wondedred why things kept goin missin
