Hi All,
New guy to forum Thanks to moderators and users,
Getting cold up here in Finland, bought a cheap 70 ie last summer,
It was going well however had an intermittent cut out problem, went to a dead stop after accelerator pedal was released for deceleration.

It would start usually after 2 or 3 tries with no apparent misfiring or other issues, seemed to happen at around 80 degrees c before full warm up.

Searched a lot of things, looking for loose wires, bad earths, searched this forum and read of quite a few with other very similar problems, found no cure.

Anyway the other day after car was warmed up, it just died as normal only this time would not start and has not since
Symptoms

There is no spark except when I turn the key 2 clicks to ignition on only, not engaging the starter, then there is a golden single spark, turning the key on to turnover results in no spark at all,

I have checked the coil and replaced with new,
Plugs as well, power is getting to the coil and all normal ignition lights are showing, checked and recharged the battery a couple of times after trying too much.

It appears to me to be a short because of the premature spark when ignition is turned on however I have no idea where to start looking,

I have
replaced the TDC sensor as well, Any ideas appreciated thanks

Re: No spark, Uno 70ie update

Since Uno is home now I was checking today and found the following,

THE HEATSINK, on the ECU digiplex 2 , bolted to the left hand front strut under the bonnet is a direct earth when still plugged in.

It might be right however i find it strange because it is otherwise isolated from the body by plastic mounts,

Unplugging it and connecting an ohm meter at 2k I found connection 8 and 10,according to the manual, both earthing to the heatsink

Can anyone with 70ie or in the know, confirm this is ok or otherwise please.
Thanks
