so after the thrashing at mallory, was time to sort some bits out....

drained out all the oil, and boy was it bad:eek: like water and totally black, smelt rank too:yuck:
new oil filter, which is a real cock to spin the last turn off, and first turn on:bang:
new plugs, the oldies were in suprisingly good shape, but i figure why not whilst i'm here...
clean out the cone filter, leaves....sheesh
rad flush, again since it's a clean out of the engines innards....
tighten up slightly loose throttle cable, the little one above the plenum
and..........a little more bling to go with the biz....

purely for the looks against the wider holed tipo alloys

she's all cleaned too, just need to properly get the alloys wiped off, and ready to show off next week!

Nice work Jai, maintenance is important with the hard-worked engine. :)

And I really like chromed wheelbolts, too. I had to get the existing bolts chromed for my Punto - since 'all' cars have wheelnuts, it's almost impossible to buy chromed bolts here. Mine cost about $100 the set to get chromed.

The turbocharger takes quite a volume of engine oil and returns it, in the words of one expert, "like dirty whipped cream". In the original handbook, I think the oil change interval was just 7,500km - a lot less than today's 20,000km intervals. Of course we have synthetic oil now, but even so, that 7,500 was for FIAT's semi-synthetic VS+ oil.

Oops - just remembered you'd need that in miles :p 4661? I guess 5000 miles in the handbook, then?

chrome bolts?! on my salary?! covers mate, covers!!!

yep i do mine about that sort of interval, but this time was only about 3000 miles since i last did it, the plugs were in good condition, just a light brown dusting on the electrodes.

was surprised at the pads though, popped them out, they are still quite meaty, and wearing dead flat, both sides, i thought from mallory and oulton would have had a right pasting, but still all good.

next jobs will be to change out the brake hoses for goodridge braided, and drain out and replace the brake fluid.

thinking as well to run another line down to the foggies, they look odd and yellow compared to the mains

LOL, I forgot that wheelnut (or bolt) covers existed :) The last time I saw something like that, they were round, black plastic, and fitted to the wheelnuts on my Austin Princess!

Fog lights old and yellow - I think you know why ;) - maybe make them deliberately yellow by fitting 'all weather' bulbs! or... it's time for... R... Re...

I think we established that the fog lights have a relay in the fusebox, but that's a long way from the lights themselves... check what voltage you're getting at the lamps. The brown and black wires to each lamp have a distinctly ordinary spade connector pair that's probably quite corroded by now. I'm sure you'll be able to make improvements.

I've taken the glass lenses off mine, cleaned them, and refitted with grey silicone sealant (or maybe grey polyurethane sealant, I can't remember). Cleaning brightens them a lot.

Well at least your white Uno T is actually getting some action - mine's sitting, license on exemption, waiting for me to get around to finishing the welded rust repair (needs a bit of filling and painting)

And I've bought not two but THREE other cars to work on! The Spider is off the road for a long time until I can do its rust repairs as part of a body restoration. I now own two project 164s - not a trace of rust on either, naturally :)

I remember them, they were literally round & had lines cut into the circumference... I think I`ve still got some in the garage from where I stripped my 1.7HL!! (y)
