I thought this was one of the most interesting threads of a Uno build that I've ever read. The restoration of a bog standard Uno from scruffy scrapyard candidate to the fantastic looking transformation was a real tale of determination and dedication. Such a shame the project seemed to grind to a halt because of the engine oil leak. Alex - get this little Uno back on track on post more updates!

Many thanks :)

The Uno WAS back on track after the engine oil leak... After fitting two different sumps twice each, the oil leak went away all by itself, perhaps as the new crankshaft seal settled in.

The 'nice' stereo went into a different car as that was considered more useful as a gift than as a stereo. :( Oh well, leading a horse to water, etc...!

The interior got upgraded to a black type from an Uno 70... though without the extended and illuminated glovebox.

The Uno provided a number of months' service (maybe even a year) until another core plug rusted through, or the head gasket blew - or something - the head was removed, and has sat on the owner's workbench for many months now. The dark-red paint is no longer as shiny as it was, and some paint got chipped off the rear bumper during the careless manoeuvring of the owner's father (helping them move house )

Next week is School Holidays, which means more free time for jjhepburn, who now has TWO sons to look after! I've said that we just have to get this Uno back on the road, as I know it has a lot more life left to give. I hope to clean up and refit the cylinder head, and give the paint a nice polish-up again. Because, unlike Jo0lz, I like sHiNY ThInGz :D
