right hi all, ive got a 1L H-reg Fiat uno 45, which i guess its mk2 and im in the norwich area (any active members around)

my questions are these:

1, i need some arch extensions front and back as one of my rear arches is abit rotten and i cant really afford to get it fixed and sprayed, id rather sort it out abit my selft and cover it over, what extensions, where from and price please someone

2, my car doesnt idle at all as soon as my foot it off the gas the car slowly dies, are uno's know for this or can some1 shed some light on this please

3, the back window wiper motor has died a death, and in my great wisdom i took it to buts but it didnt go back together lol, is there any other model of fiat i can get a motor off? or does any1 fancy sending me 1 cheap (pwetty please)

4, rear window de-mister, it is all hooked up and i think there is power going to it but it does nothing, could this be a bad earth or something?

5, sterio wires, the last owner must have been a butcher, i cant find an ignition live anywhere from what is left, has any1 got any pics of wiring etc so i can get my head round it please, im sick and tired of my battery dying because i forgot to turn my sterio off

6, did this model not come with an aerial?

7, has any1 got a standard exhaust system kicking around? think mines about to fall off

8, speedo etc, mine doesnt have a rev counter, is it a case of just get some clocks and hook em up or is it more complicated than that?

Right thats about it for the moment on the questions side of things, i do have plans for the car including

lowering,
14" multispoke rims or turbo rims,
sort the interor out because its falling to bits,
subtle backbox
rear uno spoiler(if there is one, but looks like it from pics ive seen)

or i should just say an uno turbo replica :)

any help would be great, as i aint got a clue

cheers

Two options I can think of:

(i) Uno turbo arches - subtle and look good. They will not allow bigger wheels/ tyres, they are purely for aesthetic purposes. You might get a set on Ebay for around £30 - £50.

(ii) Hormann or aftermarket kit. These will give you MUCH wider arches but need a lot of work (and money to fit). Frosty has this on his mk2, but be warned. The Hormann kits is VERY expensive new (something well over £1000) and not that cheap second hand either unless you get very lucky.

2, my car doesnt idle at all as soon as my foot it off the gas the car slowly dies, are uno's know for this or can some1 shed some light on this please

Check the vacuum advance diaphragm on the distributor. A known weak spot and causes the symptoms that you describe.

3, the back window wiper motor has died a death, and in my great wisdom i took it to buts but it didnt go back together lol, is there any other model of fiat i can get a motor off? or does any1 fancy sending me 1 cheap (pwetty please)

No idea to be honest with you. There's still a fair few mk2 Unos knocking around so best look on places like Ebay or in your local scrap yard.

4, rear window de-mister, it is all hooked up and i think there is power going to it but it does nothing, could this be a bad earth or something?

Check the fuse in the fusebox. If that's fine, get a multimeter and check to see if any current is reaching the element. Often the element gets scratched causing the circuit to be broken. If there is current reaching the element then the element itself is probably damaged. You can either fit a new rear screen or buy some electrical conductive paint and repair the damage in the element.

5, sterio wires, the last owner must have been a butcher, i cant find an ignition live anywhere from what is left, has any1 got any pics of wiring etc so i can get my head round it please, im sick and tired of my battery dying because i forgot to turn my sterio off

There's a Haynes manual somewhere on PDF - on the forum perhaps? If not, check Ebay again as there are loads on there going for very little. And if the mk2 is like the mk1, the stereo feed wire is always live. Get a face of stereo so that you have to remove the face everytime you leave the car guaranteeing that the stereo will be switched off!

6, did this model not come with an aerial?

If it is just a '45' it may well not have an ariel. 45 S models (mk1's for sure, not certain on mk2's) came with one fitted at the front of the roof 'bee sting' style. Retro fitting an ariel is not difficult, and you can poach one of another Fiat to keep it all in the family ;)

7, has any1 got a standard exhaust system kicking around? think mines about to fall off

No! Look up a trade exhaust supplier in the Yellow Pages (Rapid Fit/ Allparts etc.) and buy one from them offering cash (might be able to get it for trade price that way). New systems are cheap and easy to fit, don't bother going second hand.

8, speedo etc, mine doesnt have a rev counter, is it a case of just get some clocks and hook em up or is it more complicated than that?

Pretty much, yes. Search for some threads on here as it's been covered before. You will need to find an 'SX' or 'Turbo' instrument cluster. Both will be a straight swap into your car, and only one wire is needed to get the tachometer working. However, the SX cluster is more suitable for your car as the turbo has a load of extra gauges that won't work without the appropriate senders. The SX gauges are the same as you already have but with the addition of a tacho, but they aren't as easy to find compared with turbo clusters. Again, check Ebay or put a wanted advert up in the classifieds.

Right thats about it for the moment on the questions side of things, i do have plans for the car including

lowering,

Ebay. There's a set of springs on there as pointed out by Jai in a recent post.

14" multispoke rims or turbo rims,

Turbo rims - Ebay again. Lots of aftermarket rims available so your choice is wide. Make sure you get them with the right PCD and offset else you might have problems.

sort the interor out because its falling to bits,

Uno Turbo interior is your best bet. Bolt in swap. If you can find one that is...

subtle backbox

Plenty out there to choose from. Don't go too big else it looks Chavvy/ silly.

rear uno spoiler(if there is one, but looks like it from pics ive seen)

There is for the mk2. Check out Ant's white mk2 turbo for a rear spoiler. It's aftermarket (I think) but looks factory standard. Ant will confirm where the spoiler came from.

Your other option is to fit a mk1 Uno turbo plastic tailgate with integrated spoiler. Some people like to do this on a mk2, but you'll need to modify the mounting points and fit mk1 rear light clusters.

A fair few mk1 tailgates turn up for sale on Ebay, probably because it's the only panel on the car that doesn't rust! The mk2 spoiler will be much easier to fit though and will only need painting.

or i should just say an uno turbo replica :)

There are some rotted out turbos coming up for sale, so buy one of those and transfer all the tasty bits! Be warned, UT's seem to be going up in value and that includes MOT failed rotten ones.

any help would be great, as i aint got a clue

cheers

Hope some of my suggestions help, and welcome to the forum by the way

Feel free to ask any questions, but also try the 'search' facility as many mods have already been covered.

Any pictures of your Uno?
