Hi,

Have just bought a 04 Elaganza 2.0 Auto (Petrol) and have a few problems that I have arranged for the dealer to sort out. (Mainly a couple of bodywork scrathes and an annoying rattle from the drivers side sliding door - guessing this is a common fault?)

There are a few things I have noticed since I picked up the car though that have been touched on in previous threads but I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

1. Under seat storage drawers. Mine has neither driver's or passenger side. Should there be one or two?

2. 2nd and 3rd row 12v sockets. They aren't there. The third row has a blanking cover and I can't see anything in the 2nd row at all. I've read that there was a spec change but that Fiat are fitting the missing 3rd row socket under warranty. Is this still the case?

3. I've had the 'Automatic Gearbox fault' warning come up a couple of times briefly then go away. Obv I will be getting the dealer to look at this but it is a common problem?

Any advise/tips gratefully received. Cheers.

Phil

1. My 2.2 JTD Elaganza has a draw under the passenger seat only

2. there is no socket in the second row, although there is a cable with a connector under the passenger seat, I thought this was due to my car having the cd changer between the seats. On the third row there is a blank, I questioned my dealer and he told me that the socket is only provided with one of the option packs (not sure which one) however I bought a socket from the dealer (£4) and it just pushes straight in (the cable and connector are already there)

3. dont know mines manual.

Thanks for the info. Car is now with dealer to look at the gearbox issue.

Have queried the other issues and am waiting to hear back.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I got my 3rd row socket fitted under warranty! I wasn't let them use the spec-change excuse on me ;)

As for auto gearbox, I am sure poggy has had it a few times! Hopefully he will comment when he nexts comes online.

Well after 3 days they finally got round to looking at the car. (That's the same length of time we'd actually owned the car) and the dealer tells me they have been onto Fiat who advise them to fit a new gearbox. Oh joy.

And still no news on the list of a dozen other issues I provided them with, 7 of which should have been sorted before we collected it.

Sorry for late response, just back from France. We had the gearbox indicator light flash a few times and then the display disappear. This is not the one on the RT3, but just the one which indicates which gear you are in. In the end I fixed it myslef by aligning the sensor on the gearbox selector, which is on top of the gearbox.

Mine had all the 12V sockets on delivery, which is strange as it is the same age as Stuarts.

I have the passenger tray and as I understand it, the UK versions don't have drivers one's.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Poggy. Dealer has told me that the car will be ready by Tuesday. They have promised to sort out the other minor niggles - we shall see.

The gearbox problem actually got worse than just the indicator light. It had flashed up briefly a couple of times. Next day my wife had just reversed to park up and heard a loud 'clunk' and then couldn't get the shifter into 'Park'.

I'm just annoyed that this was clearly a problem that existed before we had the car and they hadn't done anything about it.

In order to shift from/to P position:
1)Ignition must be turned on
2)Brake pedal must be pressed.
It is likely that one of these conditions was not filled.
If not, perhaps there is a problem with the electromagnetic pin (=solenoid) at the gearshift or its wiring. Anyhow, it is not related to the problems you had described earlier.

Thanks apis. 100% sure the brake was pressed. Guess there was some other unrelated problem - enough for Fiat to instruct them to fit a new box anyway.

Hi like most I got the 3rd row socket fitted under warranty and like you have had Auto gearbox problems with my car in is now on its 3rd as the second one fiat fitted had the same problem as the first it seems early auto boxes had a known fault so fiat don't even blink if a car has an auto gearbox failure they just fit a new one the only problem is most new boxes have to be shipped from frances which can take some time. I have had my car nearly two years so am getting close to trading it in as it costs a small fortune to run sorry fiat but looks like I will be buying else where as had just to many problems with this model. It would be nice to know who has also given up their fiat and moved to a different car manu.

I haven't had a serious problems, only minor things have needed fixing. The worst thing is the seat foam in the seats which falls apart.
