Hi,
I hope someone can help with this , I have a 96, Ulysse 1.9 td. I have recently discovered a problem with my interior lighting was not working . I checked out the door switches and found all of them damaged and on further checking I found that I now have 12 volts on the ground cable for the door switches , which leads me to believe I have a short somewhere . I have not got a wiring diagram so I don't really know where to start . I also found a black relay near the fusebox which if removed will take the voltage of the cables could anyone with access to a wiring diagram have a look at this for me please or if some has a copy I will gladly pay for photocopying postage etc :bang:
yours, davycha

You should have 12V on the door switches.
If they are wired the std way then the light is fed 12V and the ground side is fed down to the door switches.
The door switch then grounds it and the light comes on.
Measuring with a meter will show the full 12V at the switch because the interior light bulb s very low resistance.

If you want to be safe then try grounding the door switch wire with a 3A fuse.
If the fuse blows you have a short. If the internal lamp lights it's ok.

pat,
thanks for your reply , I forgot to mention that I have all my interior lamp removed and I still have 12 volt at door switches and will blow even up to a 10 amp fuse . I am really thrashing around without a wiring diagram

I'd suspect a short in the feed to one of the interior lamps then.
The 12V feed to the lamp is probably shorted to the switch return.
Check anyplace where damage or chaffing may have ocurred.
Sorry can't help beyond that.

pat,
I think I have it narrowed down to a faulty extension time relay for the lighting I will let you know if this resolves the problem.
thanks for your help

That could be the problem. Did wonder as I posted last if that model had one.
My old Uylsse didn't.

i have found the short, it was located in the door connector for the drivers door ,someone must have removed it and damaged 2 cables when refitting it al now seems to be ok except I have to get new door switches

I too had an interior light problem when I first purchased my 97 2.0 petrol. The garage I got it from knew about the problem and supplied me with the part. It was the light fitting itself one of the switches was burnt out. Two minutes to replace but I do not know how much it would of cost.
