hey all,

i just got a second hand ulysse today.

my first question is, at night when the lights are on should the screen that displays the climate control information be lit as well (like a backlight). as for some reason you cant see a thing it says at night. If it should be lit any idea whats wrong?

Second question is, underneath the drivers seat there is a plug, its thin shaped with several pins its not plugged in anywhere just wondering if anyone knows what this is and where it should go.

Hi Panel should be illuminated, there are two "grain of wheat" bulbs in twist off holders at the back of the panel, mine was also gone but it was a circuit problem so I got another unit from a scrappie, post a picture of the plug, does it have electric seats? maybe a disconnected plug !!!!!!

oh cool, how do i get to the bulbs at the back of the panel?

it just seems really well built in if you know what i mean and no point of entry and i will take a pic of the cable under the seat. I noticed today there is more than 1 cable.

Looks as if you have an ex taxi or similar, all that looks like a two way radio set up to me, I had the same and just removed them all. To get at the unit, remove silver strip on top front of the area below radio, just pulls out from beside glove box to steering console, then lift whole cover up it only clips in, gear lever gaiter can also be removed and brought through at an angle, you should be able to see the bulb holders then, twist out with pliers, check you are getting current to the bulbs, mine had an internal fault and I just got another. Hope this helps

Hi cables under the seat are for the vdo dayton sat nav system.Looks like you bought an ex addi lee bus.(is it black 54 plate and two holes in the roof?) Wouldnt worry about the cables but careful prob still connected to battery. The panel will find on ebay simple fix.

it was just the bulbs in the climate control screen, £3 on new bulbs and bold holders and works like a charm.

Whats an addi lee bus, is that bad?

Yes it is a 54 plate, black ulysse, but cant see any holes in the roof.

is 130,000 miles bad for a ulysse, is it likley to die soon or are they pretty well built?

whats adverage mileage of a ulysse before they 'die'?

Mine has 180000 on it and it drives like a new car - depends on how the miles have been accumulated I suppose - 1. company car, or 2. taxi? I know which mine is, and what I would always go for!

Also service history is a good pointer
