I am just about to order a 2.2 Presigio but have a question about towbars and towing weights. Does a flange style towbar mess up the parking sensors or do I need a swan neck/detachable? and Fiat uk website is no use for towing weights but the Peugeot website says 1850 kgs for the 806 anybody any ideas?

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,

I have access to the Cd/Handbook at home, so will have a look later on. I know a few of the guys on here have a towbar already fitted, so they may have an even quicker answer for you.

I presume your dealer doesn't know, or want to attempt to find out, the answer!

The dealer farms the work out and I managed to talk to fitter and he hadn't fitted a new style Ulysse bar.

I have a non-removable one fitted and it doesn't impact on the operation of the sensors at all......

Ok, quick check on the CD, and 2.2JTD 6 seater towing weights are:

1850kg with braked trailer;
650kg with unbraked trailer.

Hope this helps :)

Sorry - It's a bolted on ball, but I've yet to need to unbolt it after 8 months!

Thanks to Stuart and John. If the CD you have has the weights why doesn't the web site or the brochure have them..............not a real question just a statement!!

If the answer was unavailable here I was going to find a dealer and look at the VIN plate for tha answer.........if someone is in the mood can they get number 1 and number 2 from the plate inside the drivers door of a 2.2 JTD please. My car is still 10 weeks away!

John, the bolt on ball is good news as I don't have to buy a new bike rack. The flange/bolt variety can have the rack and tow at the same time.

Paul,

The CD is a Ulysse technical/diagnostic CD - I will start getting copies out to people for their own use. I got a paypal account if it makes it any easier, so as long as I cover a CD-R [c20p] and p&p, that's it. Will try and get a price sorted for anyone interested.

Again, I will look at the No 1 and No 2 tonight from the drivers door and post accordingly, unless anyone beats me to it.

Stu

PS The answer will always be available here ;)

NO 1 - 1250kg

NO 2 - 1300kg

If I understand correctly No1 is the max gross weight ie the car full of people and luggage and No2 is the max train weight ie car max plus what it will tow braked so..........2 minus 1 means the Ulysse will tow 50kg.

I'll stick with the earlier post of 1850kgs!!

thanks anyway.

Paul

Er, I thought you knew what each one meant!

No 1 is the maximum permitted load on the front axle; No 2 is max on the back axle! Total permitted load is 2505kg.

The 1850kg is max braked towed weight!

Whilst on subject, maximum roofbar weight is 100kgs.

You looking to do a lot of shifting stuff around then?? I have an eye for these things, you know ;)

Thats interesting....the numbers that is, 3 and 4 should be the axil weights.

Don't put much on the roof but................sorry to admit it, do pull a 1600kg caravan.

Paul

Aargh - if you ever go away with it, let me know the route in advance! Lol - only kidding.

I have got the data from the CD-Rom and the car itself - must be right - the axle weights are the 3rd and 4th number down on the list, the top two have no numbers next to them!

i.e.

2505
3880
1 - 1250
2 - 1300

ah........... 3880 - 2505 = 1375kg which is what the fiat web site says for the lower models.

Not bothered now because the 1375kg is a movable figure depending upon how the car is loaded. The 2505kg weight should be measured by having a 80 odd kg adult in every seat and something like 7kg luggage each. I don't do that to the car so more to tow.

Thanks very much for your input.

Paul

BTW - the actual weight you can pull will also depend on what the tow bar is rated to support (regardless of what the car can pull). You'll need to cross-reference the car's capabilities with the limits quoted by the tow bar manufacturer!

John ;)
