What is required for a ECU re-map?

Last question for today, I promise

A while back when I bought my mk1 1.2 16v, I got a chipped ECU with it (once chipped by a member I believe is/was also active on this forum (Woj). But now that I am starting to learn more about tuning myself, I would like to know what I need to re-map an ECU myself (I followed a couple of online courses regarding ECU tuning NA engines for funs and giggles, so I have a basic understanding of how it works). I'm not going to do this directly to my own engine (would be stupid without experience haha), but I am in the market for a spare MK1 1.2 16v to experiment with.

All resources are welcome!
