After 2 1/2 years I decided to change my Tipo 1.4 Lounge for a Tipo Style. I managed to get a great deal and extra discount if I took the car befire March.
The new Tipo is "nippier" than the 1.4 lounge and is getting better mpg.
Downside ... no sat nav, no rear camera.
Upside ... led lights ,lane assist ,different dash display , road sign recognition , and few things I havent discovered yet.
Very pleased with car. It is an improvement and if advertised properly should sell.

"if advertised"

Theres your problem fiat seem to have no care about advertising the car in the UK
Never seen a single advert for one since they came out allthrough see endless 500 family ones

I agree... no advertising of anything other than 500 range. Puntos were always well advertised on tv and in the press.
If a Tipo had a different badge ( ie VW.Skoda.Kia tec) the auto press woyld be all over it.

Interesting about the engine difference. Specifications (from What car?) -

1.4, 95bhp, 94lb.ft, 0-60 12.4s

1.0, 100bhp, 140lb.ft, 0-60 11.8s

My main issue with the 1.4 is overtaking grunt at 50-60mph, of which there is precious little. Is the 1.0 better?

Also, engine sound. How is the 3-cylinder 1.0? We have an Up! and its 3-cylinder engine has real character and a nice sound to it.

Is this progress really. My Tipo Elite 120bhp 320lb
.ft and 0 to 60 9.8 seconds

When my 1.6 diesel went in for a service they asked if I wanted deal on anther new one with the new engine line up.

I said no, the lack of performance and handling is getting to me at times, the new Tipo does not seem to address the issues.

I'll hold on for a bit longer, when I should be able to get an Alfa Stelvio.

I would guess that Dacia are not losing much sleep over the new Tipo, which is a shame because the Tipo is not a bad car, FCA seems to have abandoned the Tipo to the Turks, they don't seem to be talking to each other, there are enough resources in the group to make the Tipo a much better car

True the seem to have thown the car together then washed there hands of it especially in the UK where they don't care about it

It's a shame as it's selling reasonably well in Europe and turkey
Not so much in the uk

I know, the other problems the press in the UK and badge snobbery and what I call "Sheepism" where people just go to VAG Group and the German brands.

German engineering and reliability is a myth.

FIAT UK must have low sales targets, well FCA as a whole and a non-existent marketing budget

Had car for four weeks and everything seems ok.
Definately quicker acceleration and "pick up" when overtaking compaired to 95hp 1.4 lounge.
Different engine note ,sounds ok
Getting 35 mpg ( done 350 m)
Overall the car is good.

That's great, as a replacement for the 95bhp it looks very good.

Really pleased that your happy with it

They need to put a more powerful engine in (like the 1.0 120bhp from the 500X) to entice the rest of us to get another, the marketing makes no sense.

Are they hoping we'll go for a 500X?

FCA have some decent cars and seem to be not so keen on letting the world know, there are no reviews of the new Tipo with the new engines, just rewrite of the engine spec and the rest written from the initial launch.

Relying on repeat buyers is a very poor strategy.

I hope a more powerful engine is introduced to the range. We currently have a 1.4 94bhp and it's annoyingly slow, the rest of the car is great thought and I truly believe if it had a different badge on it, the press would give it a much higher rating.

Same here I have the 120bhp tipo lounge petrol and won’t buy a new tipo/500x until a bigger engine appears. I had a courtesy car 95bhp petrol tipo mirror while mine was being serviced and couldn’t believe how sluggish it was. Got 12 months left before I change. It’s possible I will be handing it back and going to a different make?

500X with the turbo petrol 1.3 with 150bhp no slouch, but auto only, no manual gearbox.

Seems like madness to only offer the Tipo with one petrol engine, but it's not even a UK market decision - the Italian spec one only has a 1.0 FireFly 100bhp petrol since the facelift. They do still have the diesels unlike the UK though.

I hope they offer the 1.0 FireFly 120bhp from the 500x - the Parents 500x is fitted with that engine and it's a good replacement for the 1.4 T-Jet. Quite a different noise because of being 3cylinder rather than 4cylinder like the T-Jet, but good character, feels as nippy (especially as the 500x seems heavier than the Tipo) and is more economical from experience.

I won't buy a new one with only 100bhp - not only because of the drop in power but also because it only has a 5 speed box unlike the T-Jet and the 120bhp 1.0 FireFly in the 500x. Holding out hope for a new Peugeot-based Alfa Giulietta with the new Stellantis formation, otherwise I might have to jump ship from the Italians as Fiat don't have anything for me now after dropping the Punto and higher powered Tipo's (n)
