Hi All - used to have a Punto, changed my Fiesta for a new S-design 14.T at the end of October, loving the car, and the value for money!

Can't find any reference to the fact than my accelerator pedal has a "stop" near the end of the travel that requires extra pressure to overcome - like a kickdown except the car is manual. Is this just a normal economy device I've not come across before?

And in the last week the Uconnect as stopped getting TomTom traffic. I'll browse for that, but I tried to look for software updates on the website and my VIN was not recognized? Any quick tips before I get lost in the bowels of the interweb?

The 500X (manual) also has this soft stop which you can press through. Struggling to remember now but I'm pretty sure that according to MES/diagnostic kit then the soft stop is 100% of throttle and going beyond does nothing (when I tested). No other signal (well on MES but might be on the official Fiat kit) is associated with "going over" the soft stop.

I think that this soft stop with override is actually a mechanical stress release mechanism that allows one to get 100% of throttle before hitting the floor and the step through is to stop excessive force being applied to the sensitive/fragile throttle potentiometer body itself.

The Uconnect is a pain,I've had mine stop giving traffic mid journey and wouldn't reconnect for a week !,the phone side of things work,I've done everything I can think of with resetting and updating,if yours is a S design doesn't it have Android auto ?,if so I'd forgot the sat Nov and use Google maps, also the Uconnect needs registering to yourself to get updates.

Many thanks, that makes a lot more sense that my theory. On the couple of occasions when I've gone past it nothing seem to happen acceleration wise.

The Uconnect is a pain,
Yes, I'm reminded of Blue and Me. Sadly my wife has a TomTom and prefers it to Google, and I like the idea of the traffic cameras (and not having to plug my phone it to activate Android Auto). The Uconnect car functions seem to work - Find My car, Miles to empty, I'm just not getting the traffic. It worked for three months and the app says it is still enabled.

Modern life seems to expect us to put up with stuff that doesn't work properly and/or has rubbish support. Nextbase dashcam, DJI drone, Brompton electric bike, Smart meters, all sorts of computer software and now Uconnect. Sigh...

I've got a new Tipo (also an S-Design :slayer:) and mine has that slight 'kick down' effect to the accelerator pedal. I quite like it. Not sure it makes a massive amount of difference but I do tend to stop short of it usually and then go beyond it when in a particular hurry - feels quite pleasing to use even if it makes little difference :p

I'll have to keep an eye on the TomTom - I got a traffic delay on the sat nav map on Tuesday, but I think RDS TMC was showing above the delay minutes in the progress bar, so I guess that means it wasn't a TomTom announcement anyway?

Interestingly people on the Alfa Forum www.alfaowner.com are reporting that they've lost the 'Live' functionality of their UConnect Live units very recently too - maybe Fiat Group haven't paid the bill?

Interesting. I'm not convinced the extra travel actually does anything, but I'll have to check again.

Regarding the traffic, it sort of encouraging that other people have reported it - for now I'm using Google, which seems to have recently added speed cameras, but you still don't get Speed limits, although I generally don't rely on those anyway. I'l check out your link.

Well the traffic is working again. When I went to use the car this morning, the Uconnect app on my phone asked for my log in,, and then the Tom Tom services loaded.

I had tried logging out and back in before, so I don't think it was at my end.

Someone on Alfa Owner posted that an update was pushed to the UConnect units over the weekend and it solved their problems, so it could be that this has had an effect here too (y)
