Hi all I’m looking to purchase a Tipo s design hatchback in a few months.
Does anyone have one yet? Do you like it?

Went in one at my local dealers and was a bit disappointed. Prefer my Tipo Lounge two tone interior to the s-design faux half leather. The upgrade screen looked a bit after market too with its fitting!

Same here, looked at one yesterday and it's not worth the extra Fiat want for it from new, there's nothing that couldn't be replicated, even the "special" colour could be done with a wrap !

I quite like the S-Design in the Street Grey colour, but it's frustrating that you can't upgrade the part-leather interior to full leather like you can in the Lounge. On the other hand the Lounge has the tiny UConnect touchscreen and you can't upgrade to the bigger newer UConnect from the S-Design

Having had a basic 1.4 16v (95bhp) Easy as a courtesy car a few days ago, I was pretty impressed with the Tipo. My current car's a 2016 Alfa Giulietta 1.6 JTDm, though I've previously had several Fiat's and can imagine the higher powered engines being pretty decent in the Tipo. It didn't handle like the Giulietta, but it's a damn-sight cheaper so I wouldn't expect it to.

I'd probably go for a Lounge, as you can get the leather interior and the smaller 17" wheels would suit the local roads better than the 18" ones on the S-Design. Just a shame you can't get the bigger screen and Street Grey colour on the Lounge or add leather to the S-Design (n)

I think the leather isn't proper leather either,it some sort of faux leather ,and for us in the UK fitting the 7" head unit only brings the car inline with the rest of Europe !

Well, having gone to change my Alfa Giulietta for an Abarth 595, I decided the Abarth was too raucous for the roads I spend a lot of time on, so after a lot of deliberating I've bought a brand new Tipo S-Design

I decided the part-leather was an acceptable compromise for the full leather I wanted and the new 7" screen was much better than the old 5" one in the Lounge. The Street Grey paint, lovely wheels and gadgets like adaptive cruise control & Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, plus xenon headlights swung it for me.

Just hope it rides ok on those 18" wheels and the T-Jet 120 engine doesn't drink like a fish. I'm anticipating the depreciation to be fierce but it's got a definite charm so I threw financial caution to the wind on this one

Nice one Liam (y)

I haven't seen an S Design in Street Grey yet on the roads, only in photos on tinternet, but it does look a lovely colour.

Is your car in the UK or have you got to wait for a factory order?

I hadn't seen one on the roads either, just a few Easy Plus & Lounge models. I was going to go with a Lounge factory order, but the S-Design does look a bit meaner as it replaces the chrome bits with piano black trim, plus it has those lovely wheels & xenons. The bigger touchscreen was a bonus too. Street Grey seems like the colour to have as it's only available on the S-Design. The dealer said the Tipo seems to be selling in ok numbers to leasing firms for company cars. She didn't say about private sales though.

Mine's already in stock unregistered at the dealer, there were 3 of them identical - one already sold, mine and one more left. Fiat aren't doing any supported PCP offers on them at the moment so the finance deal is nothing special (no deposit contribution or low APR), but it's offset by the £3500 off list price that I got (£2330 from Fiat and the rest from the dealer). I should have it before the end of the week (y)

The Tipo leather isn't as fake feeling as some artificial leather i've seen. Merc's Artico leather is very plasticky feeling for example.

That's good then. Look forward to seeing photos in due course :). I just wish November would hurry up so that I can get mine!

I was told the same thing about the finance when I ordered my Easy a few weeks ago. I guess Fiat arent doing any supported PCP offers on the Tipo due to the large discounts they are offering against the list prices. Its down to individual dealers then and how much they want your business as to what, if anything, they are prepared to offer extra.

I would be interested to know what the percentage of retail sales of new Tipo's is compared to fleet sales. I bet it is tiny in comparison!

SG Perch in York had a pre reg for 14k, which looking at Autotrader is the going rate,so at those prices who'd get one on a PCP ??,get one on a loan and at least you own it at the end !

Evening all, I recently purchased the Tipo s design in street grey, it’s a really good car to drive. If you look in newbie section I have posted a couple of pics

Trouble with a regular loan is you have to finance the whole amount, whereas on PCP the final lump sum is deferred so you can either pay it at the end, re-finance it or walk away and get another car, which keeps the monthly payments lower than on a regular loan or Hire Purchase (HP). The idea of buying pre-reg had gone through my mind but having owned several ex-demo or used cars I decided I'd just go the whole hog & get brand spanking this time

I had a look - looks lovely, but then I am biased :p How are you finding it? Your first Fiat?

Hi, this is my second fiat, I had a Brava years a go. I bought it new back in June, pretty impressed , it drives well and is loaded with plenty of kit. I find the 1.4 MJ more than adequate and pretty good on fuel. The colour is spot on and looks great, people don’t believe it’s a fiat.

Aah, the old Brava, with the individual rear light lenses - they were so quirky. People always used to say 'it's a Bravo' and I'd be like 'no, it's a Brava. The 3door is a Bravo!' :D  I had the Brava/o replacement, the Stilo (3dr), for 6 years from 2008-2014 and loved it. I had a couple of Punto's prior to that and then had a couple of Alfa's after the Stilo.

I did think it was possibly a backward step going from an Alfa Giulietta to a Tipo and I suppose in terms of badge the Fiat isn't quite 'up there' with the Alfa, but a few folk at work have approached me & commented how smart it looks, which they didn't with the Alfa, weirdly  One guy said 'I've never paid attention to a Fiat before but that looks really good', which was pretty pleasing as it cost new what the Alfa cost a year old! The colour is definitely a big part of it though - it was one of the main reasons I went with the S-Design instead of a Lounge.

What sort of MPG are you getting? My trip computer is saying 33-35mpg at the moment, but the car's only done 150 miles so it's A) not loosened-up and B) not used a full tank to work out the consumption manually yet.

When I’m knocking around town it’s showing 37. , just driven over to Nottingham and it was showing 47 mpg like you I expect a little more when I have covered more miles. In the first 2000 miles I topped up the oil and it took 3/4 litre at the local dealer . They say that is normal until engine beds in...

That's very good economy, especially on the long run! If I get even 40mpg out of it I'd be happy.

I'll keep an eye on the oil - I've got out of the habit of checking the oil level more than every few months because the last 4 Italian cars I've had were all diesel and 3 of them never used a drop of oil with the 4th (a Mk2 Punto JTD) only using oil for the first year I owned it, when it was still low mileage. I'll have to remember to check it every month :rolleyes:
