Nice guided tour of the car, agree that UK weather must be tough on cars. Is possible to get the car sprayed underneath with some sort if corrosion proofing ?

No need, the actual car isn't going to rust..... The bits that are rusting are either consumable or parts that will never rust through.

thought I'd take a few photos of the common bits on 500's which cause them to fail MOT's and also show how the underneath rusts, but how it's not the problem some perceive it to be.

Nice pics! the coil springs should also be an advise.The shock absorber when leaking is allowed to be slightly damp-it's a fail when oil has run right down it.Most mot advise nowadays is to 'pass & advise' rather than fail.

Much better looking and far cleaner wheels. Car looks better but is now more jittery, slower and less economical! Hurrah!

Why would it be less power and less economical? Time to change those spark plugs and service?

I hope my 1.2 which I plan to keep 8 years or so doesn't end up getting less powerful or economical.

Because the wheels are heavier and take more power to spin up. Honestly it feels like the car has lost about 5bhp.

Ahh ok I did not think about the wheels.
Here in Australia we don't change wheels as our winters are not severe enough to justify extra set of wheels with winter tyres.

Yup, I'm from Perth originally, you would probably have a few hours in Australia when winter tyres might be beneficial so it would just be silly.
