Always good to get the paperwork through.

Sweet colour too, my HGT is the same.. :)

When you get chance to, take off your door cards, and check the connecting rods, and make sure they move freely.

Could possibly be a bit stiff, and need some help to free them up a bit.

If they lock ok, then it's very possible they are just stiff.

thanks for the info could it be anything else or does it look like a trip to fiat to let them have a look

I would leave a trip to Fiat as the very last resort... they'll charge you a fortune just to have a look at it.

It's more than likely something very simple. As you say, it locks ok, but won't unlock. Defo sounds like something has seized up, or just a bit stiff.

Make sure the door pins are not rubbing against the tops of the door cards too... that 'may' cause a slight bit of resistance too.

It could also be a CL motor is on it's last legs, and may be stopping the others from working correctly. I had this on an old MG Meastro of mine years ago... persoanlly I would say that it shouldn't happen to modern cars, but knowing Fiat electrics.. it's a possibility...lol..

Andy, i wouldnt bother with Fiat as said mate, they will just charge u an arm and a leg for what could be a simple fix, or even just fault finding. taking the door card off is a doddle :) where is it in kent your based again?

im in ramsgate and how easy is it to take the door card off and where would the central locking motor be and would they be the same what ever model of car or as its got an alarm would it have to be from a car that has an alarm

someone said it could be the remote batteries but im afraid to change them just incase it stops working altogether as i dont have the codes for them and only have 1 blue and 1 red key

I doubt it would be the remote batteries, as it locks and alarms but only disalarms... if it was the batteries, I think it would do nothing... I may be wrong though

if i change the batteries does that mean it would need reprograming or will it still work without reprograming the remote key

I know when i changed the batteries in my mum's remote for her Rover, the remote didnt need reprogramming, but i dont know anything about the bravo remotes...

Andy,

It defo won't be the remote batteries thats for sure. If they were nackered, you wouldn't be able to lock it either.

Taking the door card of is simple, a couple of alan keys and a phillips screwdriver is all that's needed.

2 bolts hold the door handle on, 2 more on the arm rest. 4 or 5 screws at the bottom of the door. Then just pull it off, but be careful of the electric window cable behind, just unplug that when you get access.

You might have to cut into the clear plastic behind to get access to all the bits. CL motor is behind there, as well as all the connecting rods.

is there anyway to check the motor and is it seperate from the lock/latch its self or is it all one unit and is there also a way of testing the to see if power is getting to it any ideas on what colour wires do what

will there be just that one motor for the locking or is there one in every door and will any bravo/a cl motor work

The 2 front motors will be the main ones, as you can lock all the doors from both (via key).

Rear doors are just slave motors.

Probs 4 wires to the front, and 2 to each of the rears.... but not fully sure on that.

Once you have the door card off, follow the rods back a bit... should find the motor not too far away.

Not sure how to fully test the motor though.

Motors will be the same from all models.

I'm off to the Isle Of Wight for a few days but if you havn't sorted it soon, I can prolly find the time to come over and help you diagnose (and mebbe fix) the problem at the weekend.

Upto you anyway :)

I'm no expert but have experience of taking Brava/os apart :)
