Hi guys, will be very appreciatitive for some help.

I drive a lot in the evening and the Brava lights let me down and I don't think the Marea conversion is worth it from what I have seen. I have seen on ebay kits like this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XENON-LIGHT-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-H1-H4-H7-9004-9005-9006_W0QQitemZ150056570751QQihZ005QQcategoryZ72235QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

HAs anybody got any experience with these please?

Benefits?
Ease of fitting?
Reliability?
Worth it in terms of value for money?
Blind other drivers at all?
MOT etc.

Thank you in advance.

This post contains eBay links which may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Search it, there are countless threads on this topic - I've been considering them for a while. It's not advisable to put them straight into Bravo headlights due to the beam pattern, ideally you do the Marea light conversion and then fit the HIDS. Again, all this can be found with a search.

Got to admit, that is a good price, just be wary of quality & customer service.

Thanks for your reply.

In my defence I did search but since the search function is so non-specific on this forum it makes it difficult sometimes, as does the fact I felt like not all of my points were covered.

So it is a definite no-no with the standard brava/o lights? I don't want the hassle (and cost) of changing to Marea lights so if that's the case I will forget about it I suppose.

Cheers again.

Changing to Marea lights is piece of cake (took me less than an hour), you could probably pick up the units for quite a cheap price too if you look seriously. I was kinda hoping you'd go for them so you could tell us about that kit, that's a very cheap price for HIDS! I'm very tempted now :)

Have you upgraded the standard bulbs in your headlight? A good bulb does make a big difference.

Searching on this site can be a bit of a chore but it's really all about using the right keywords and sifting through a few pages, takes some getting used to.

Thanks for the reply.

I have the normal +30% bulbs that most places sell but I do 60 miles a day in my JTD, and it struggles. When i drive my father's Megane and back to my Brava it's like I am wearing sunglasses. Not good.

Personally I hate having bits to my car that are non-standard (such as the marea lights) since if something goes wrong it adds an extra layer of complexity to solving it, and I rely on my car a bit too much to start fiddling too much with the lights (so why am I looking at changing to xenon, lol).

Maybe I will keep my eyes out for the marea lights for a while, I stupidly ignored some when i got my centre console i bet i could have got them for next to nothing. I plan to keep the car for 20 months more so it should be worth it.

Thanks once again for your reply.

I got some, kept them in for the mot, and they failed mot on colour. Bought them as blue and two weeks later they were green.

i can't recommend getting those poly marea lights enough. the difference on unlit roadson dip beam is nothing short of remarkable. I was sceptical at first but you'd have to kill me to get 'em off the car now! The main hassles with fitting are a) getting to the wiring loom, and b) getting the snap connectors to make a decent connection. Other than that it was a piece of cake

I've got HIDs and Marea lights. They do seem to be green when they're only just been started up, but they turn icey white within 30 seconds or so I think. Mine were second hand and about £80 which was a bit of bargain, I can't beleive these ones are £75 new!

I love them personally, fair enough no headlight is really gonna give you broad daylight magically, but I'm impressed with the output my lights have now, (never thought I'd say that about Bravo headlights!) though it does make the ful-beam bulbs seem orange! Had to change the sidelights to LEDs too cos they looked like faulty indicators!

Thanks for all the replies. Seems like i have been 'barking up the wrong tree' then, will keep an eye out for a set of Marea lights initially, really hating my commute at the moment. Love the JTD though, had the 1.2 16v first and the JTD is in another league.

Fitting Philips Vision Plus and aligning the lights myself was a 100% improvement on factory fitted bulbs/light alignment.

Seriously, get some marea headlights, no problem to fit and the difference is well worth the time and effort and lets be honest, it doesnt cost much of any of those really. The guides are a help, do a search if you get stuck. I have a Honda Accord as well as the Bravo, the poly lights (with standard bulbs) are better than the Honda and the Honda has +30% bulbs.
