Ok, so you're about to buy a new car and the salesman mentions xenon lighting.

Typically this costs upwards of £3 - 4 hundred.

What stops you retrospectively fitting replacement xenon bulbs into your non-xenon Bravo? Is it to do with power consumption, the lenses, what?

What do you actually get for that £300 option?
 
I haven't done any research into it, so I'm unaware of the exact details, but let's just say you can purchase an exact fit but as a Xenon bulb, are you saying that a car with non-xenon system won't be able to provide sufficient power?
 
Dont know exactly, I know there exist some after market xenon lights, but dont know how they work in detail. Just know the fact that they use 15000 to 25000V.

HEAT!! They get VERY VERY hot and can melt the reflectors.

The power is not an issue, HID bulbs use less power than normal.
 
its a whole different setup. when you go into mchellfords and pay a tenner for a xenon bulb, its not a HID system you are buying. when you pay £300 at the dealer you get entirely different headlight units.

you can buy aftermarket kits, not sure what you get or how good they are
 
One other thing to note before spending hundreds on an HID kit is beam pattern. The bravo lights have a bad beam pattern which is why they are not that good and installing HID will not solve this.

Easiest solution: get headlamps with better beam patterns - marea polys :)
