Previously posted about my running issues, flat spots, often felt like 1-2 seconds of fuel starvation or air flow blockage

Fiat Pro service centre couldn’t fix or find (or didn’t try to) on 2 services and 2 separate recall visits

With help from a technician on here, I replaced the Turbo pressure solenoid yesterday,

Result, trip from Midlands to Glasgow and back today, (yes I was nutz in that weather)

Didn’t miss a beat, smooth all the way in some pretty horrendous conditions,

Just needs a 180hp blower bolting on now [emoji23][emoji23]

What do you mean by Turbo Pressure solenoid. Is this the solenoid that operates the waste gate actuator. A boost pressure sensor. Or EGR operating solenoid (depending if pressure or electrical). All relating to your fault.

It’s the turbo pressure solenoid, fits behind the big black vacuum box top centre of engine bay, has 2 vacuum pipes and one breather pipe, and electrical connector.

Kept getting P0236 & P0238 error codes and limp mode, after egr recall done 2 weeks ago no errors, but still the flat spot.
Was informed after he did another one of these solenoids the other day to try it,
It worked,
Dealer wouldn’t change it as they believed the egr recall or throttle valve pipe clip recall would fix the flat spot

Just attached a random photo from tinterweb for ID purposes,

I changed that on my old 07Reg Ducato it made a massive improvement i bought the pierburgh???? (made in the same factory as fiat/iveco ones) but half the price what fiat charge and a 5min job to swap out
I still have a new one in my garage as they sent two think o may give it a go

No difference anywhere else, just solves the starvation of fuel or air effect, when steady cruising and accelerating flat spot

Expected slight improvement on fuel but if anything it’s slightly worse lol

Just go easy on the larger diameter vac pipe, mine was really soft, peeled itself a new hole!

Thankfully the breather pipe that came with new solenoid, is same diameter and length, so used the old one

Also be careful with the wire spring clip holding block connector on!
Mines in the snow (I hope) somewhere lol
Cable tie holding connector in place [emoji85]

Diaphragm fails eventually, my dads dissected a few failed pierburg ones and reckons they should be a service item at 80k or so miles. They are about 1/3 of the price from citroen vs fiat btw.

Mine must have failed when new, as the symptoms now gone were there from new, guessing water gets in thru the breather

@theoneandonly this post is worth a read and pass the notes to Baz. I changed my solenoid last December, I think I'm going to buy another new one for spares stock. I'm told that this part bought via Peugeot is lower price , does anybody know the PSA part number?
