Hi all,

Just replacing my catalytic converter on Cinquecento Sporting 1.1. due to high CO reading in MOT.

Pulled it out the packing and found that it isn't really quite right...or at least the same as the one that is coming off.

It will fit.....but rather than having just the one sensor hole at top for the lambda, this also has another smaller sensor hole down where on original cat-pipe there is the under-engine mounting bracket.

I would presume this cat is for a Seicento? and the wrong one was delivered for this part ordered: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291030458622?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Best thing would be to send it back, I guess, but I have only got this week to get it back to MOT place under the '10 working days' and if I there is no issue with using this one, without bracket....and the hole blanked off....I would be tempted.

So, any issues with using it, or best to get the correct one re-delivered.

cheers

Or is it right.....but just different?

Looking at the ePER, it looks like the cat in the book has the second hole and a blanking off screw????

And the bracket is a separate part rather than a welded lug on pipe?

Anybody know what is going on here? and which one is correct? and what the second hole is for?

Odd to see a second one there -- may be an alternate placement? If it were to take a second lambda it's be after the cat. Still, I'd just get a bung for it (any exhaust place will have them, or, alternatively, eBay has them for £3 or so.

I'd just fit it.

I can't remember ever seeing a bracket like on the old one, either!

they both look weird to me, the downpipe usually has a flexi section on it and then the cat is a seperate piece - i never seen one that looks like either of them before, quite strange.

Does the next bit of pipe on your car have a flexi section?? I think the old exhaust has been repaired and doesn't have a flexi which is not a clever idea really.

If it's a motor factors part It'll probably fit a hole series of other cars, if it fits get it on and plug the other hole, it'll be fine.
Motor factors are not OEM so won't be exact.
Or look anything like fiats.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Reckon I will just blank the hole, live without the bottom bracket and fit it.

fwiw..... the first section of the next bit of bit of pipe has the flexi-part and this is the same as the exhaust pipe I had previously.

The old cat I am removing was identical to the one that was on previously before that (and became fried along with the lambda when head gasket went) and has only been on the car for a year....and it is a whole other question as to why this cat only lasted a year.

The second hole presumably was for a sensor, but as you say most probably not another lambda and is a smaller size - only 12mm

Agreed it is a cheap e-bay part and more than likely is designed to fit a few of the Fire 1100 engines and maybe others.

Anyway, you guys have re-assured me, I will go ahead and fit it, just hope it brings down the CO enough to get it through the MOT.

thanks guys

Why is the cat goosed?
Can you not try some cataclean through it?

Possibly could of.....

MOT guy suggested getting a new Cat, I kind of just went with the flow and wanted it done quick and easy.

Anyway, fitted that cat, passed the MOT and back on the road again.

onto the next problem!

One back hub bearing is shot (again) and replace the rest of the rear swing arm bushes. Did one, but ran out of time, so need to get it apart for the others.
