In short, yes. Although I very much doubt you'd get the claimed 2x increase in frame rates in games. More realistically you'd get a maximum increase of 1.75 times once the extra overhead of the two cards talking to each other about splitting up the work is taken into account.

However, how well does the rest of your system perform? If it's stuttering along at 10fps trying to play the latest and greatest then you're only going to see 17 fps with an extra card. Still not very playable.

Benchmark your system first, then decide.

Panda1408 is right. It depends how much you have to spend and what you want from your system. It sounds OK from your spec.

If you can afford it get a better single card. If you're on a tight budget you'll get a good boost in performance by going SLI with what you've suggested.

As I said, benchmark first to help you decide. You'll need 3Dmark Vantage to benchmark with DX10. The free download will perform a limited set of tests which will give you a fair idea.

Or download Fraps (www.fraps.com) and run your current games with it to see what sort of frame rates you're getting.

Just took my own advice with Fraps to check how easy it was.

A couple of minutes to download and install then fired up UT3 and the frame rate is overlaid in a corner of the screen. Easy peasy.

Whole process took about 5 minutes including playing the game for a minute ot two.

Let us know how you get on.

45 fps in Crisis is pretty good. What sort of settings are you running it on?

You should be able to get 60+ by going SLI with your current set-up.

Or cranking up the detail and maintaining 40+.

It depends on his settings when running crysis, with that card and those fps i would guess the settings are pretty low, try wacking them up to full?

My computer runs crysis a dream, but still not a massive amoiunt of FPS.
