Not the ones on your christmas turkey but the ones controling the brakes, power and steering on the front of your tipo...

I've got a pair ready to replace the current worn ones. Should I bother replacing the bushes with powerflex ones while I have the time to mess around with them? If so replace front and read bushes or just the rear ones since they seem to wear more.

I've seen people say that using poly bushes causes more wear on the suspension components - I can't see how as the arms are moving in only the way they were designed to. On rubber they move laterally too which can't be good for the strut.

It is worth fitting polly bushes if you are keeping the car for a while because they last a lot longer than rubber ones but are much more expensive. I have never heard that they cause more wear to other components and to be honest i cant see that myself. I know they give a harder ride though

I think it's generally recognised to be a good thing, according to Powerflex the reason they're not done as standard is cost. It depends if the wishbones you're going to fit are brand new, you might not want to junk the new bushes. Ideally you'd put poly bushes onto the old wishbones to revive them, assuming the ball joint is ok. If this is a DIY change it's not too much extra work.

Check the Alfa 155 forum, they all seem to do it and there's a guide on it somewhere. I think Superflex are the cheapest, they've got a UK website and I think you get the metal bits too. There are some sets of powerflex bushes on Ebay, cheaper than other traders. I think Powerflex sell fronts and rears separately.

I don't know if the Tipo is the same as the Coupe, but I know people who've done this on the Coupe had to burn the rubber out, as it won't come out on its own!

i bought mine form superflex, they are anything but cheap, a chap called taz on the coop forum has a great way for doing these, I paid someone to, and it cost me far too much.

Burning out suspension bushes is very poor practice. It puts a lot of heat into the suspension parts. Its actually illegal in NZ.

super flex are aussie products, and its in their instruction leaflet, doesnt take much heat to burn rubber.
