Technical wiper won't park and intermittent now continuous

our wipers have gone a bit mad, they won't park in the right place and the intermittent setting just acts like the always on

so the motor is ok, but something else aint right

trying to work out what i need to fix replace, this is on a 1995

so is there a relay as well as the motor unit?

is it possible to fix, been reading that there are copper strips/contacts somewhere

would like to know how it all works?

( don't suppose there are any spare ones going ? )

well managed to fix the proble, took the motor off the car on it's own, just 3 bolts for the motor and one for the spindle, then back into the nice warm house
[ this spring weather is beyond a joke now isn't it, snowing here yday ]

took the plastic cap off the top of the control unit and then could see the back side of the PCB that has the relay etc

one of the copper tracks had burnt out, guess probably the sensor line

soldered a jumper wire across the break

also cleaned the grease off the sensor tracking bit

put back into car and it's fixed , phew money saved...

good fix

i have had this on other things. aerial rotators for one (ham radio thing)

if the track looks a little thin i just go over the whole thing with solder, just to build it back up.
i always run a dab of silicone grease down the track after though just to help it not ware down as quick.

i did it with copper slip once.. it just pushed it all to the end and made a contact it should not of made.. popping many fuses.

wasn't the positioning tracks, which is what i thought it was going to be

but one of the tracks on the PCB which i think the intermittent/parking signal went through, i suspect maybe on an induction circuit and so high currents, so it eventually burnt out

glad it was as easier to fix than the rotor/detector type strips...
