Technical Wiper stopping?

Thought it was the cold but recently noticed when my wipers are on adjustable intermittent wipe they sometimes stop during a sweep? I have to flick the stalk up to get the blades back down to their 'rest' position? Any ideas?

Have you tried doing a wash/wipe when this happens; may be quicker than the present action you are taking. This may be the first sign of needing a new wiper motor; not something you really want to gamble with as the absence of wipers could be a real problem.

Its not the motor John - works perfectly in all other modes. I'm guessing its the stalk connection on the single lift 'up' stroke for a single wipe......
