Wiper motor (again)

Hello,
my front wipers motor blows the fuse when used at the slowest speed position.

Sometimes i start the the car with the wipers on highest speed just not to blow the fuse!
I can use them for hours, problem is when i try to turn them off. As soon as they stop the fuse blows.

The fuse also blows when i just plug the key and start the pre heating plugs.

Can this just be bad earth on the battery and the motor being used as a discharge instead?

I'm looking to replace the wiper motor but i'm not to keen on spending money on something i'm not sure is the fault!

(Sometimes i can use the wiper motor at any speed and not even bother, it won't blow! Seems to be just fine, and then next day it blows again)

I had this problem last year and strangely it passed until now. I guess this happens on rainy weather?!

If you do need a new front wiper motor.... I have 2 spare if you need one..!

Get to the motor and disconnect it, then try. If all is OK, the small white box on the motor that controls the speed and the interval has some sort of problem, or the contacts on the rotary plate under it are bad.

Sven, you made it sound easy but i found a lot of work to reach the motor. I was almost there but lacked the tools to remove the wipers and had to assemble everything back... :|

Knackered the wiper motor on my HGT with the icy weather we had recently. Just popping by to say thanks to Kee, who sorted me out with a spare!

Shane - No worries chap...!Glad to be able to help out...! If you need owt else wotsoeva let me know 1st before you go spending too much on new parts as i have bucket loads of bits from starter motors to switches, relays to interior trims...!
