Hi Everyone,

I am Iskey from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To be honest, the task of joining the forum had been somewhat "delegated" to me by my wife since the Fiat actually belongs to her. It's actually a 2004 Punto Nouva 1.3 so I don't know whether it would be a Mk1 or Mk2/2b or not.

The other reason for joining is to seek feedbacks on the issue of the Wiper Blade linkage on the Punto as is shown in the picture attached. The local mechanic says a replacement only comes in a set together with the motor which is hard to find used, but would cost a bomb new. Understand there's a clip to hold the ball joint back together or is it better to replace just the linkages or the whole assembly?

Advice from experienced members would be much appreciated.

Iskey

Welcome to the Forum :)
I have been through three sets of Wipex replacement arms and bushes and finally drilled a hole and fixed a washer on there. In the long run it's best as Oldhammer says.

Thanks for all the advice. Issue with wipers still not solved. The linkage coming off was not the only issue. Mechanic said, the other end of the "pivot assembly" (hope I got the part's name right) that is made of carbon fibre, had also broken off from its attachment to the rigid tubing. Only solution is to replace the complete wiper unit. Would much appreciate advice on where I can source for a good used one and have it ship to Kuala Lumpur.

New ones aren't that expensive from Euro Car Parts - about £85 - so it may be worth asking them if they'll ship overseas. A used one will just end up the same as the one you have already.

Thanks a lot maggers. Will check out the parts at Euro Cars.

Right
The issue you've got is the actual anchor point has come apart
What i'd do as a temporary fix to kepe them on the road is this
Epoxy glue the end back into palce
I'd then get some Small Self tapping screws, and go through where the linkage has been epoxyied to help keep it place

I've seen them break like that before - once in a blue moon it happens

My advice
Follow the above to temporary fix
Get a whole new linkage set, 2nd sets are ****, they've all worn out anyway
Shop4parts, Have the correct linkages for Both the mk2 and mk2b, but you will need the correct version as they are different electronically
The mk2 on a mk2b wont stop wiping even though its off

Shop4parts also Ship to malaysia

To tell if you have a mk2 or mk2b, its different to the UK spec's

But as a general rule of thumb, long narrow with projector headlights = Mk2
But the bigger (taller) With a reflector headlight instead is the mk2b

My Yellow bumblee-bee in my signiture below is a mk2b
